After watching the Springer video and now the Yuli tribute....call me old school all you want, but character and decency matter to me. We been blssed not only to watch great players during this run, but I don;t know of any *****s in the mix. Tough to see really good guys go elsewhere.

I think it's fair to question what the issue is with Yordan's hands and if it can be corrected.

Roberto Osuna definitely was in the D-bag category

I am totally speculating, but I wonder if he has something like rheumatoid arthritis. Hands and knees...?

if Dubon gets 300 at-bats in 2023...something has gone really, really wrong with the season
He got 216 PAs for us from May 15th (game 35) on. That projects to 273 over a full season.

Yes there were some injuries and if everyone stays healthy his ABs decrease by a lot, but injuries happen and will happen this season. With Uncle Mike out I hate to say it but there's a decent chance Dubon is in the opening day starting lineup, and we're only one more injury away from that being nearly a certainty.

We won the WS, so I can't complain. But I think some of y'all may be in denial about how much run the Doob is going to get.

Here's a statement that'll break your brain... Jake Meyers has more career hits off of Justin Verlander than Alex Bregman

I don't think I've ever heard someone consider ST hits as career hits.

I'm not sure anyone is denying that Dusty is going to use him...just hoping it is limited.

As far as if Brantley isn't ready on opening day, then shouldn't the lineup include
OF Tucker
OF Chas
OF Meyers
DH Yordan

or

OF Tucker
OF Chas
OF Yordan
DH Hensley?

Or Diaz as DH in the second one.

I'd say the over/under is 300 plate appearances. I do think he will improve his hitting a bit, but not enough that anyone is happy he's playing that much.

If think 200 PAs is a lock (barring injury). I'd bet the house on over 200 if there was a place to make that bet.

His reflexes are too slow. Time to move on. Maybe Dubon can take his place?

I've never seen Dubon get lit up by a 10-year-old. Plus he takes his fitness seriously. He put on like 20 pounds of good weight.

After the Springer video I thought this was about a kid who got nearly taken out by a line drive and Pena went and visited or something.

Reminds me of my youth. My team in coaches pitch I think was playing and the kid pitcher got a line drive straight to the face. Our team had 5-6 HFD paramedic/FF on the team and everyone of them rushed into action it was actually really impressive how fast. The kid ended up being taken in an ambulance and had to have surgery I believe.

The next season the entire CFSA mandated kid pitchers wear helmets with a mask. This would have been like '92-95ish

Sorry for the lengthy delay in getting Part 13 of the season review up and going. It took me 5 days to recover from 36 hours of camping.

August 19-30
Record: 6-4
Overall Record: 83-47
AL West Position: 1st place by 11.5 games
AL Overall Position: Best record by 4.0 games

Game 121: August 19, 2022, Braves 6, Astros 2
@ Truist Park
Attendance: 42,837
Record: 77-44

Playing the Braves for the first time since Game 6 of the 2021 World Series, the Astros meekly submitted 6-2, getting just seven hits off Kyle Wright and company. Dandy Swanson and AUstin Riley combined to go 5-for-9 with 5 RBI. Lance McCullers pitched 5 innings and allowed 3 runs, and Phil Maton, voted Game MVP by the Braves, game up 3 runs in a single inning to put the game away.

Game 122: August 20, 2022: Braves 5, Astros 4, 11 innings
@ Truist Park
Attendance: 42,893
Record: 77-45

Didn't we just leave this party? The Astros lost a second straight game to the Braves, this time in bonkers' extra innings fashion as the two teams went to the top of the 10th tied at 1-1, then scored 7 more runs in two frames of extra innings. It wasted a great outing by Cristian Javier, who gave up 1 run on 2 hits while striking out 8 in 6 innings. The Astros went ahead 3-1 in the top of the 10th on a single by Preppy and a double by Yuli Gurriel, but the Braves tied it with two runs off Hector Neris in the bottom of the inning. Jeremy Pena's groundout in the top of the 11th made it 4-3, but Ryne Stanek spontaneously combusted in the bottom of the 11th, never even recording an out.

Game 123: August 21, 2022: Astros 5, Braves 4
@ Truist Park
Attendance: 42,531
Record: 78-45

The Astros nearly got swept, but held on in the 9th for a 5-4 win, getting Jose Urquidy to 12-4 on the year. Tied at 2 after 7, the Astros went up 4-2 on a big error, a Kyle Tucker single, and a Jeremy Pena sacrifice fly. Yuli Gurriel made it 5-2 in the top of the ninth before Ryan Pressly allowed 2 runs in the bottom of the frame before striking out MIchael Harris to end it. Yorda Alvarez was 2 for 5 with 2 RBI to give him 79, while Tucker moved to 82. The Astros stole 4 bases off the Braves.

Game 124: August 23, 2022: Astros 4, Twins 2
@ Minute Maid Park
Attendance: 32,639
Record: 79-45

Carlos Correa returned to Houston for the first time since leaving as a free agent and looked like he really wanted to go sit in the home dugout, giving lots of hugs and handshakes and playing several rounds of grab-ass while his Minnesota teammates looked on with blank expressions wondering WTF he was doing. Correa then saw what life was like on the other side of the fence against Justin Verlander, who pitched 6 perfect innings and struck out 10 batters. Correa was the first Twin to reach base, leading off the top of the seventh. The Astros led 4-0 until Hector Neris made things dicey in the ninth, allowing two runs in conjunction with an error by centerfielder Mauricio Dubon, which TexAgs just loved IIRC. Alex Bregman his his 19th home run of the year and drove in two runs to reach 74.

Game 125: August 24, 2022: Astros 5, Twins 3
@ Minute Maid Park
Attendance: 27,070
Record: 80-45

The Astros won their third straight, continuing to overcome shaky bullpen work as Framber Valdez improved to 13-4, part of an effort that limited the Twins to 4 hits. Jose Altuve unloaded on Dylan Bundy for a leadoff homer in the bottom of the first, Altuve's 21st of the year, and Trey Mancini added a two-run shot in the sixth to provide the winning margin. Framber was incredible with 7 innings, 2 hits, 1 earned run and 8 strikeouts. Rafael Montero gave up 2 earned runs in the top of the ninth before getting a groundout off the bat of the anti-Johnny Bench, Gary Sanchez, to end the game.

Game 126: August 25, 2022: Astros 6, Twins 3
@ Minute Maid Park
Attendance: 33,320
Record: 81-45

Break out the brooms! The Astros erupted for 4 runs in the bottom of the first and Luis Garcia improved to 11-8 with the victory. Carlos Correa went 0-for-4 to conclude a 1-for-11 series. "Don't mean nothing," Correa told the press. "Next season when I'm balling in San Francisco or New York, we'll see who's laughing." Trey Macinin hit a three-run homer in the first inning, prompting Dusty Baker to wipe off his glasses and ask the bench "when did Yuli get so tall?" Jose Atluve was 3 for 3 to get his average to .286 and Cristian Vazquez was 2 for 3 with an RBI and a 1 run scored. Vazquez, who has 28 stolen bases in 8 years, tried to steal second because, well it was against Gary Sanchez, but got thrown out.

Game 127: August 26, 2022, Orioles 2, Astros 0
@ Minute Maid Park
Attendance: 31,035
Record: 81-46

The feel-good story of the summer- the renaissance of the Baltimore Orioles - didn't feel so good as the Astros got steamrolled by some rando named Kyle Bradish who pitched 8 innings of 2-hit shutout ball to lower his season ERA to 5.63. Lance McCullers pitched 5 scoreless innings himself before being lifted for Cistian Javier, who gave up the game-losing runs.

Game 128: August 27, 2022, Orioles 3, Astros 1
@ MInute Maid Park
Attendance: 34,526
Record: 81-47

The Orioles turned back the clock 50 years for the second night in a row with incredible pitching. Dean Kremer (insert your own joke here) allowed 4 hits and 1 run in 7 and innings as the Astros couldn't get jack squat going. Jose Urquidy allowed 3 earned runs in 5 innings to take the loss.

Game 129: August 28, 2022, Astros 3, Orioles 1
@ Minute Maid Park
Attendance: 31,559
Record: 82-47

After scoring 1 run in the first 24 innings of their series, the Astros finally found a bit of offense with 3 runs late to beat Baltimore and avoid a sweep. The win guaranteed the Astros a winning record for the season as well. Justin Verlander picked the first three innings and struck out six but then left with an undisclosed injury, making many people piss their pants. In the bottom of the seventh, the Astros got a huge two-run single by Yuli Gurriel to get on the board, and Alex Bregman blasted a solo home run in the 8th. It was Bregman's 20th home run of the year and got him to 76 RBI.

Game 130: August 30, 2022, Astros 4, Rangers 2
@ Home Depot
Attendance: 25,566
Record: 83-47

If you're ever needing a pick me up, just head over to Arlington's largest Home Depot! Framber Valdez improved to 14-4 on the year and Jose Altuve hit his 22nd home run of the year in the road win. The Rangers' dream team of Marcus Semien and Corey Seager combined to go 1-for-8, batting .238 and .255 for the year after their big free agent signings. Valdez threw 8 innings, allowed 2 runs, walked none and struck out eight.

I believe the difference is mainly 40man or not. Perez being sent back down uses is option for the year. The others are still minor leaguers and not on the 40 man so they're just reassigned as non roster invites

Good lord that's so bad it would make Eric Gregg blush.

In his defense it's two outs, T9 with the team down 7-3 and there is dinner waiting somewhere. And he will never make the show just calling balls and strikes like normal umps. You have to get noticed somehow.
