Good for Yuli and the Astros not having to face him on another World Series-contending team. Glad that's over with.

Agreed. Nothing but great memories of his time as an Astro. Hate to see it happen but that's baseball.

I agree with that reasoning.

I don't think I'd have a problem with Dubon being an emergency backup who gets the rare start and plays late game defense. You'd rather have him there than a young guy who needs the ABs.

The problem is that Dusty is going to give him 300 ABs, and that being the case he is such a bad hitter that I'd rather give a young infielder who might eventually be something the playing time rather than throw them away on dead-end Dubon.

Bummed about Yuli. Really wish we got him back as a bench bat

I love Yuli for everything he did for the Astros, but at this point he's a .700 OPS 1b and I don't want to see that on the roster.

You are correct, it is a minor league deal

Off the top of my head Yuli had more clutch hits/homers than our 2 resident hall of famers Bags and Biggio

Love Yuli, but......yet another apparent correct player evaluation. Very few players tell baseball they're done, it works the other way

Yuli is an Astro legend.

He'll be in the Astros HOF when it's all said and done.

Can't wait for the tribute video.

I know it makes sense to move on from Yuli, but I'm going to miss him. Hope he gets some time in Miami and has a solid season.

Just for fun I compared Yuli's postseason numbers vs Biggio + Bagwell's, but it was too lopsided in favor of Yuli. So I threw Ausmus to make it a little more fair. So career post season:

Biggio + Bagwell + Ausmus 379 ABs, 89 hits, 6 home runs (Ausmus has 3 of the homers)

Yuli by himself 326 ABs, 87 hits, 8 home runs

And the thing is, we thought the killer bees were the golden age of Astros baseball at the time.

I remember how atrocious he was at first when he moved to 1B and then he became a freaking wizard with the leather over there.

Bagwell and Biggio carried the franchise offensively and defensively for 15 years. They fell short in the playoffs, but it's not like Yuli Gurriel is anywhere close to the players they were overall.

Oh definitively. Biggio and Bagwell are HOF and they deserve it. But the comparison just shows how Yuli has contributed to the Astros playoff success while he wad here.

I concur. Dusty gunna Dusty. But that's the world we live in.

Don't like us not re-signing Yuli. Clubhouse chemistry, not to mention an elite glove and clutch bat are not easy to find. He'll go down as one of my all time favorite Astros.

We survived the clubhouse chemistry loss of Springer, Correa, & Myles Straw. I think we can stomach Yuli too. And next year we'll handle Brantley.

if Dubon gets 300 at-bats in 2023...something has gone really, really wrong with the season

Is there someone you're worried about? Who's going to act out? Who's going to get down in the dumps without him? Do you give any credit at all about what Abreu brings? Have you not read the reports of his work ethic and drive? How guys look up to him?

177 games
.259 BA
15 HRs

There might be a hitter somewhere inside that Honduran body of his
