My guess is Ausmus was in town for some other reason related to his connections to the organization and the media assumed that was why. Wouldn't be shocked if he has some other role here.Harry Dunne said:
Crane is so smart. He only presented Ausmus as a possibility so that people would moan about it and then be thrilled when he hired Brown.

Listening to MLB Network Radio this morning, the hosts admitted that a lot of the writers will take personal feelings and how a player treats the media into account. If a player gives time for interviews after every game, they're more likely to get a vote. If a player keeps interviews short, or doesn't frequently grant interviews, it'll likely sway the voter's opinion.
I've thought they needed to do away with BBWAA being the sole source of votes. It needs to be a breakdown of players in HOF, current players, and BBWAA.
Do away with the 10 vote limit on ballots, and if a voter turns in a blank ballot more than once, their vote gets taken away and given to someone else.

I hate the no vote guys. I saw one ballot that was blank this year and the guy voted for 4 last year (Wagner one of those 4). What the hell did those players do on their numbers year over year to lose the votes?

The hiring of GM Dana Brown, with Dusty Baker has manager, marks only the 2nd time in #MLB history that a team has had a Black GM and Black manager at the same time. The only other instance was #WhiteSox GM Ken Williams and manager Jerry Manuel from 2000-2003.

Some top names that new Astros GM Dana Brown has brought to organizations via the draft:
— Michael Schwab (@michaelschwab13) January 26, 2023
Braves: Spencer Strider, Michael Harris II, Vaughn Grissom and Shea Langeliers who helped get Matt Olson.
Nationals: Stephen Strasburg, Ian Desmond and Ryan Zimmerman.
Unfortunately this means we have to fire them both right away to win the 2025 WS.Farmer1906 said:The Porkchop Express said:Are we the first team to ever have a black manager and GM at the same time?Dan Shedd said:Welcome to H-Town, Dana Brown! 🤘 pic.twitter.com/IxCZ58AACU

We actually have two LFs on the list.Farmer1906 said:
MLB Network will be finishing up their top 10 over the next week. SS will be released tonight. Here is where the Astros stand.
C: 2/2
1B: Abreu - 4th
2B: Altuve - 1st
SS: 1/26
3B: Bregman - 6th
LF: Alvarez - 1st
CF: McCormick - 10th
RF: Tucker - 4th
SP: 2/1
RP: Pressly - 6th
We might get shut out at SS with it being such a deep position (Lindor, Swanson, Turner, Bogaerts, Seager, Correa, Bichette, Edman, Kim, Witt, & Franco), but, obviously, we feel good about the GG, CS MVP, & WS MVP.
Limiting SP to just 10 is kind of crazy. You could make an argument for Framber at 5 or 15. It depends on what exactly you're looking at.
Zero-shot at Catcher, but we have the most stacked roster regardless of how we finish this out.
For comparisons here is where our competition stands
