the home team is at a disadvantage in the 2-3-2 format...if they let the road team win game 1 or 2

the series never made it back to San Diego

Very much doubt the manager made the call to bunt there. If he is going to be fired it should be for not bringing in Hader to pitch to Harper with a man on.

I mean modern analytics even question bunting someone over from 1st with no outs. I bet this decision is excoriated and rightfully so. However no mention so far, focusing on the Phillies' moment as they should.

I cannot believe the steely ABs to work those walks and force a pitching change and put all the pressure on Suarez and then give him the two easiest outs on two pitches of all time.

If I were a Padres fan I'd be apoplectic with rage.

It's incredibly hard to win 3 or 4 games in a row unless you have really good pitching. Neither of these teams have consistent, really good pitching. All they had to do was win 1 on the road, just as the disadvantaged team did.

They didn't do it and deserved to lose. Don't make excuses for the Padres.

Really good play by the pitcher to field the bunt


I think it was a gutless move by Grisham

But the sloppy field conditions and a pitcher throwing his first pitch of the game make it not as bad a decision

He just didn't locate that meatball of a pitch

I don't see any other options because Thursday has to be an off day, and doubleheaders should be out of the question

I watched a small amount of the nlcs game. It looked like the field was wet. Why wasn't that game postponed/delayed?
