Exactly. The guy who spends the money (Cohen) was OK with it. Why do these guys care? They're just pissed b/c they can't spend infinity billion dollars without significant consequence.CoachRTM said:
Yea sorry, this isn't a one team deal.
Their payroll is going to drop 75 M, but they're going to have to resign deGrom (40 M +) and rebuild their entire bullpen. That's a you problem. Not a league problem.EastCoastAgNc said:Word is there are a couple Mets players concerned about the CBT, and one or two are arguing against accepting the MLB offer. Mets look destined to pay the biggest tax, and it’s possible they are concerned fourth tier relax could inhibit spending.

Team votes are coming on now (delivered by player reps) and so far they are in favor. So far players are going against the executive council. https://t.co/rbGrAyd9hy

There are 38 votes total in the player’s union, 30 team reps & 8 on the executive board. So, right now, if the board is against, they need two-thirds of the player reps to vote for the proposal for it to pass. Player reps are talking to their teams to determine their votes.

I wasn't referring to Correa, Not happening unless his value craters and he takes a 1 year deal. Which won't happen.Farmer1906 said:Don't be. Several teams (like maybe NY) were out of the Correa market with the old tax. Now, they're in it. I still don't see us giving Correa the mega-deal he wants, regardless of tax. I think we're pretty much done unless we find value or enter the trade market.Taxman90 said:I got to admit, I'm pretty excited about the possibility of the Astros having $45MM or so of "cap space" instead of $23MM.EastCoastAgNc said:Free agency could open by *tonight* if there is a CBA agreement today, Tom Verducci just reported on @MLBNetwork.
