Yep. The 'Stros might be able to find a SS out there to match Carlos' regular season numbers at the plate but he definitely comes up big in the postseason (Springer did also).. Not that Correa has ever even been average in the field but where he has improved the most is his play is in the field. If he decides to go elsewhere, I think we will miss his glove more than his bat at least in the regular season.

Seems like with Verlander and Greinke money coming off the books you could give him the overall number he wants but front load the next couple of years and taper down the contract so we're not hamstrung at the end

Luxury tax is calculated based on average annual value, not what you pay someone any given year.

Yeah I'm not a Dusty fan at all, but have had no problems with his moves. I haven't minded using the closer with the spacing of the games. We have to get the W's and I would rather not wait to bring them in when the bases are juiced or something.

I didn't mind using Pressly in the 8th either b/c of the part of the lineup coming up vs what was due up in the 9th either.

If it was a 5-4 game with Pressly coming in everybody would've like it (or I would've) and that's what he was warming for


Exactly. I want Pressly facing 5-6-7 in the 8th. Let Graveman take 8-9-1. Assuming it's close.


Part of me says not to expose your closers unless needed. Given the shakiness I saw in game 1 I am feeling better about getting them out there so they are comfortable when it really counts. I don't know if that's Dusty's genius at work or just dumb luck, but hopefully it plays out that way.

Back from the game and it is sinking in that Astros were down 1-0 then 4-2 and ended up winning 9-4. That is beautiful October baseball.

So Cash and the way TB manages their BP works well until one thing doesn't go as planned.

As soon as things get a little bit sideways it snow balls and there's no chance of getting back on track.

I think he had a very quick hook on his starter tonight. Cora had to yank Sale after 1. He was getting destroyed and you cant afford to leave someone out after what he gave up. But Cash pulled a guy up 5-3.

While, I agree, Usually, it's easier/more likely if you catch a few breaks. Like playing a worn down wild card pitching staff at home instead of a fresh top seed.
