That's why the Red Sox fired their GM. He put them in a financial box that they can't get out of.

If you are the Astros would you offer Yuli for J.D.? That saves them roughly $15M this year.
I like the fact that the Red Sox owners didn't care about that (the recent championship) --- did not buy him extra rope. Boston wants to be in the playoffs every yeariBrad said:mathguy86 said:

At least they won a World Series while in their box.
Unless Joe Buck is writing the contract I don't see Judge getting more than 25M.W said:
that's right.
this is where the Giancarlo contract really hurts them. The Bombers don't have enough for Judge, Cole, Giancarlo, and one of the 2021 shortstops.
that would be 4 players in the $30 MM club --- and Cole & Judge will be closer to the $35 MM club

I've seen the arbitration number on Devo at $1.75 - $2M. I'm assuming they hang onto him as those numbers
The team didn't non-tender Devo, so he will get whatever the arb number is. Astros declined the option for 2.8 which is way more than they think the arb number will be at say 2mil. Devo will still be on the team.titanmaster_race said:bearkatag15 said:

Why hang onto $2m for an arm you don't trust out of the bullpen when you can bring up an arm you don't trust from the farm for $500k?

Was just browsing MLB's historical top prospects.
What if I told you.. that in 2012.. Jake Marisnick was the 35th best prospect in the game, 1 spot behind newly drafted Carlos Correa, 2 spots behind Anthony Rendon, 4 spots behind Xander Boegarts, and ahead of Gary Sanchez, Jackie Bradley Jr, George Springer, Aaron Hicks, Jorge Soler, James Paxton, Trevor Story, Chris Archer, Noah Syndergaard, Addison Russell, Yasiel Puig, and many, many others?
Number 1 on the list..
Jurickson Profar

I have no respect for Tyler White, access to nutritionist and trainers and yet he couldn't take baseball serious enough to give the appearance that he was in any semblance of shape.
