An urgent phone call from general manager Jon Daniels to Odor after the game.

" mr. Odor, I'd like to talk to you about adding 2 more years onto our deal"

The head drop and pimping around the bases every 50th AB when he hits a HR annoys the **** out of me

You'd think he's an MVP candidate instead of a guy hitting 40 points better than Jeff Mathis

Okay. Feel free to pimp that one

Big freaking deal.

He hit a home run off a scrub pitcher after the game was already decided anyway. Rangers will pimp it like there's no tomorrow while the twins starters shut him down this weekend.

Not getting my hopes up on him running into a couple dingers tonight. Let's see him keep it going for a week or two and then I'll start to be hopeful.

Poor Grape can't even be excited the Rangers won. He is too busy putting asterisks next to anything positive Odor does.

Tampa, Minnesota and the Halos all Lost.

Interesting:

If you missed them, they were monsters. The 2nd HR was the 13th longest, of the season. 3rd longest by a Ranger. Longest by a Ranger not named Mazara.

I knew you'd be all over this.

Don't jump to conclusions. He's still very bad.

I missed the game, and from the thread, I had assumed the Rangers had lost, so I just wanted to make sure any who missed the game could see the highlights.

There is nothing else need be said, that watching you respond hasn't already expressed.

Sweet dreams. Rangers Won! Much needed win.

DAMMIT, Rangers won and Rougie hit two homeruns.

What kind of bizarro thread has this turned into?

The constant Odor stuff has ruined this thread. Yes, he sucks. We got it. JIminy Foooookin Cricket. Grape is as bad of a poster as Odor is a 2nd baseman. Why don't you create an Odor thread and take your ass over there since he's all you are here for?

It's amazing how many Rangers fans seem to actively root against Odor. The guy has been much better over the past couple weeks, and that seems to upset people.

I never root against him. I want him to be good, and I hope he blasts one of those HR every at bat.

Stop picking fights.

Half the Odor and non-Odor crap that happens is because you come in and bold someone's username and pop off about them

Mostly to laugh at grapesoda's irrational hate for Odor. No matter how well Rougie does the dude all ways has something to say

The problem is Odor could be a solid MLB second baseman if he'd go back to being a slap ball hitter using his speed to get on and steal bases. That's what he was when he first came up.

Now he's swinging the bat as hard as he can every at bat, every pitch, regardless of the count, and striking out at a rate that'd make the old Joey Gallo blush. When he hits two home runs like last night, it'll be a month before he considers doing anything besides swinging for the fences.

So as we sit today, there are 5 teams within 3.5 games of the 1st wildcard spot and 6 teams within 6 games of the 2nd wildcard.

This is the kind of race they needed in the AL when Yu was trade bait.

The main problem with The Darvish trade probably wasn't the market. The reason the rangers got hardly anything was his injury history and Yu was pitching like dog crap because of Brocail's "tutelage".

On a different discussion: Why was Lance Lynn not considered for the ASG? He is tied for first in Wins in MLB and is probably one of the best 15-20 pitchers in MLB this year. Minor is getting all the play b/c of the CGs and other stats that are some of the best in the league as well. I'm not taking anything away from Minor because he certainly deserves the consideration. But, you could argue that Lynn is having a better season.

Funny side note: I've been to 3 Rangers games this season and completely by chance, Lance Lynn has started all of them. He is 2-1 in the games we've been to. Almost went last night and when I saw Lynn on the mound I commented that it would have been appropriate if we had gone.

Lynn has done very well this season, but to most outsiders who don't follow the team, his ERA sticks out as mediocre. That's the first thing people look at when judging a pitcher. He had several really bad starts very early in the season.

He really has been great. Workhorse, got his ERA under 4 last night (3.91) and has really anchored this rotation after Minor.

Wish we had the end of rotation depth to lock this thing into a for sure competitor. I'd take 3-4 Lynn's even if the ERA was around 4.50.

I agree with your assessment. His ERA is high and his WHIP isn't great but he wins. Again, not to take anything away from Minor because he is having a great season to, buy Lynn is a workhorse that just wins. Wish he would have gotten some consideration.

#CommonGround

Having said that... Yu also has a tendency to get too cute. He'll be cruising along and then decide to mix in a pitch he wasn't throwing and then get sideways. It was almost as if he got bored and lost interest.

Like Perez, Darvish started tipping his pitches and like Perez, Brocail never saw it.

It appears we need to raise money to get you to more games.

Regarding Lynn...

Minor has a 2.54 ERA, which is absolutely incredible. Lynn has been equally effective, even with an inflated 3.91 ERA. The difference is Lynn has had to continually try to bring his ERA down, which distracts from what he is doing.

He opened the season with a 5.1 IP, 7 ER game. Take that out and his ERA is 3.54 (T13 with Shane Bieber-Cle)

He had a stinker @Oak (his 5th GS) where he gave up 8ER in 3.1. IIRC, it was a game he was left in, to chew innings.

Take out those 2, 8.2 IP, 15 ER, and he is at 2.96 (6th in the AL) for his other 16 GS.

In fact, since his 5th GS, he is 3.09 in his last 13 GS.

I put $20 into the 50/50 everytime we go. My nine year old is convinced we should rent a suite with the proceeds if we ever win it. Personally, I'd probably spring for a 20 game package in the cheap seats if we won (depending on the payout).
