WE FINALLY HAVE AN ACE. He is old yes, but he doesn't have a ton of mileage on his arm and he's the kind of pitcher whose stuff ages well. He loves it here. He loves this team. We should extend minor........not trade him. We already traded 2 #2 quality pitchers in hamels and Darvish for prospects. The Darvish trade has appeared to work out, while the hamels trade was a disaster. Let the guys we have in the minor leagues develop. I just don't think some team is going to give us adequate compensation for minor, the guy is just too good right now.
Ummm... he has finished 5th, 6th twice and 8th in Cy Young voting. He is currently 4th in NL ERA, at 2.92.
Career 3.38 ERA in 410 GS over 14 seasons... averaging 8.5 SO/9IP
8 Seasons with over 200 IP. Hamels is 35. And has 16 GS in the post-season.
Now, let's contrast that to Mike Minor, who has yet to receive a single Cy Young vote. Career 3.80 ERA, with one season over 200 IP. 155 GS. He is 31. And 6.1 IP in Post season.
LOVE what Minor is doing this season, but let's tap the breaks on anointing him anything, just yet.

Hamels was an ace in 15 and 16. He was the one that pushed them to the division title in 15, winning start after start after start. But as the franchise drifted in 17 and 18, I think he lost focus and mailed it in.
Feels like Cabrera has been ice cold for awhile.

Also, with a rep of kind of being the cerebral type, by 2017, Hamels might have been ready to cave his own head in with a Louisville slugger after having spent so much time playing for a couple of complete meatheads like Banny and Brocail

JD kept mentioning going with a 6-man rotation and Hamels was uncharacteristically vocally against it. He made it clear that he wanted no part of it.

Who in their right mind would have predicted the Rangers would be 10 games over .500 right now. Our pitching and defense has been superb and we have a very efficient offense. Thank you Rangers for making this a fun season so far.

JD also made it clear Hamels would continue on his 5 day schedule and the other guys would shuffle around if they tried a 6 man rotation.
