I know we don't want to look ahead, and maybe this has been discussed, but a rainout is better for us if this series goes seven and we come out on top. If Verlander and Cole have to pitch Saturday and Sunday to clinch, neither would be able to pitch in games one or two. With a delay allowing Verlander to pitch Friday, we could head into the World Series with the same pitching order as the ALCS.
Best case scenario is to clinch before Cole has to pitch again. Then you could start the World Series with Cole and Verlander at home in games one and two.
Plus, if Boone has a short leash with Tanaka and Paxton again, assuming we don't win both, their pitching gets really interesting for the Saturday game.
Bottom line is that for the Yankees to win, they'll have to win three games out of Greinke, Verlander, Cole, and a bullpen game.
