Couple of thoughts about the game last night:
  • When the announcers were talking about the awesome play by Correa to get the guy out at home they were saying how exciting they were about the runner coming into home and then they said "Unfortunately, the Astros prevented it" They don't even pretend to be neutral when it comes to our guys.
  • I should go back and watch the game to see what percentage of the feed was shots of Judge-either the fifteen or so replays of his home run or simply looking at him in the dugout or field. It was sickening-why would anyone want to look at that smug ugly face?
  • I have profound hearing impairment so anything I watch on tv has subtitles; yes ARod said Carlos Beltran instead on Correa-what a *****.

When the game comes back to Minute Maid, they should not allow him in the booth! Although, I like him more than the other guys, especially ARood

On the unfortunately bit, weren't the broadcasters talking about it from the Yankees point of view of why you send the guy? I think they even said it took two perfect plays to get him out. It actually was unfortunate for the Yankees if you're taking that perspective.

ARod messed up. Why get mad at him on that? I've heard our won broadcasters mess up names. It was actually funny. He called Carlos Beltran a 6'4" shortstop. Haha.

If the Astros win Cole's start, the Yankees cannot win the series without beating either JV or Cole back at Minute Maid.*

Y'all are hearing what you want to on this.

When they said this they were speaking form the point of view from Nevin (3B coach) and whether or not it was the right call to send him.

They said something along the lines of Nevin did the right thing and he absolutely has to send him there. Look at him keepig an eye on the play and as soon as it kicks away here he is waving. Unfortunately the Astros cut the run down.

It was unfortunate for Nevin. They weren't saying it was unfortunate for them.

Man, I hope Alvarez can pull it together. He seems lost up there. Hope it isn't a case of pitchers now having a sure fire strategy of getting him out.

I agree. This poster is obviously nitpicking. The analysts speak all the time *from the perspective of one team or another*. The little piece you're referencing he was speaking from the perspective of New York, but there are plenty of other times when they speak from the perspective of Houston.

Some people have such a complex about being liked and praised and accepted by others...get over it! Human beings are NOT unbiased creatures and Alex Rodriguez is a freakin' former Yankee!!!! You honestly think he wants the Astros to win? Of course not. Give him that grace to enjoy the series 80% as a professional and 20% as a fan.

At the end of the day, I find that crew to be highly entertaining and complimentary of all sides. I actually think Arod does a pretty good job in this gig. They all bring their unique self to the table, like the TNT NBA crew, and it works.

Just relax and enjoy watching this awesome baseball team while we still can!

That was a fun game. I was top row of 421 hidden by the a/c duct that runs along the right field foul line side of the stadium next to 2 real New Yorkers complete with accents. Nice and talkative for the most part except for right at the end after the Correa walk-off, one mentioned:

"I hate for the game to have ended that way after that blown call on Sanchez"

I wanted to hit him up the side of the head because we both looked at the video clip on his phone where Sanchez swung and completely whiffed on the "foul tip" on the previous pitch.

I just told them I hope they enjoyed their weekend and walked out.

Lost is a good word. Ugh.

Where's the fire? Where's the aggression? I think he's thinking way too much. I would move him down.

This is especially an issue with baseball, because every team has a home broadcasting crew of homers and when you hear your team on a national broadcast, anything that isn't oozing love for your team seems to be hate.

I love Joe Buck's Twitter slogan. "I hate your team".

One game at a time my friend.

They could have easily won tonight. And tomorrow is no given. One game at a time!

Ask his now dead bat where the aggression and fire is

Hence the "If". It's a big game Tuesday because the series would have to go back to MMP for the Yankees to win the series. And if there is no rain out they would have to go through JV and Cole.

Any idea when World Series presale emails go out? I remember it being around this time last year right about game 2-3
It seems like they usually wait until we are 1-2 wins away from actually clinching to actually do the presale so that there's less of a chance of doing refunds. So I would expect emails to go out after we get one more win. So hopefully Tuesday.

He's really good at it. Where he really shines is if there's something that another person on the set has in their history that relates to the game they're talking about.

He'll stop the conversation and be like "Frank, you were an excellent hitter on high fastballs on the outer third which the Astros will see a lot tonight from (whoever), what's the key to hitting those pitches?" Or a lot of times he'll preview the umpire for the game "look for a lot of low strikes but not much on the inside corner..." or whatever.

Obviously he's a yankee so I'm not expecting him to pretend he wasn't, but I think he's really really good on their pregame and postgame shows. You can tell he actually puts some time into preparing.

He does a good job of steering the conversation and making sure they aren't just talking all over each other.

Shows what I know. Had no idea Nevin was their 3rd base coach. Maybe he sent the runner as a "thank you" for us drafting him #1 back in the day.

Did you not see him break his bat after the one strike out? Is that not fire?

This is baseball, everyone eventually has to make adjustments, and the players are humans, not robots. Given his swing, production, and demeanor, I am betting on Alvarez to make the adjustment and get it figured out sooner rather than later.

Some of y'all are incredibly thin-skinned when it comes to tv personalities. How do you ever make it through a game with Gary Danielson?

Do you wake up every morning just waiting to get pissed off about something? Life is too short ...

Doesn't help that Alvarez has basically been getting a new pitcher every at bat. He doesn't even usually get to watch them from the on deck circle.

Also,

I think I would like to have Smoltz and Arod in the same booth. The hitter and pitcher perspective from those two would be great.

Gotta leave Yordan where he is. Just let he fact that he's a power hitting lefty is a matchups nightmare that causes managers to overreact.

Yeah, it'd be great if he started mashing (obviously) but having a lefty in his spot pays off for us as long as the other team respects him.

Well he has enough fire to break a bat, but not enough to make an adjustment. This series he now has 8 plate appearances, 5 Ks, 1 walk, and no hits.

He is very knowledgeable but that doesn't change the fact that he and Ortiz are known cheaters and therefor shouldn't play nearly as prominent role in baseball that they do.

Okay, I obviously was not looking at the comment in the right way. I feel very silly now if that helps

I only watch Astros games so I am used to Blummer and crew doing the play by play.

Thanks to everyone who commented and helped me.

Did anyone else see the two drunk yankee fans get thrown out and one arrested near 133? Lol

Both were hammered and one was just walking up and down the aisle with his arms up flexing every time he had to go to the bathroom or he would just stand up and do it after every astros out. He complied with security but his buddy did not. No idea what they said or did but his buddy wouldn't leave the seat and he had a nice little police escort to the top. Dudes were hammered.

I went to buy my kid a new jersey the other day. The only ones left in his size were Altuve & Correa. He asked for Correa and I told him no. When he asked why, I said because he gets hurt getting massages and probably won't be on the team after next year. We got the Altuve jersey.

When I woke him up this morning and showed him the video from last night, the first thing he said was, "You should have let me get the Correa jersey." My 6 yr old got me this morning....
