Glad I am not the only one... baseball is the most maddening sport I watch. Don't get anywhere near as anxious watching anything else.

Thanks Fran.

Helps that years ago that I came to accept Texas A&M football is middle tier, regardless of money thrown into the program...

I think the key tonight is patience. Glasnow has never pitched a game like this (especially not on the road in an elimination game against a lineup like ours) and, though he has great stuff, he doesn't have consistent command. We need to work him deep into counts and force him to make clutch pitches on 2-1, 2-0, 3-1 to get back into counts. He was generally able to do so in game 1 but we'll see tonight.

One interesting note is that we've only walked five times in the last three games... which is crazy to think about because Bregman walked five times in three games by himself many many times this year. We've been getting a reasonably normal amount of base hits but without the walks mixed in, we haven't had our usual amount of traffic on the base paths. What I want to see from Springer in the first AB is a deep count and a walk. Put some some pressure on Glasnow, be patient and force him to make alot of pressure pitches with guys on base.

We have the best lineup, top to bottom, in all of baseball.

It's time to bring the bats!

I tend to lean the other way.

I think we need to pounce early. Get him early in the count when he's trying to sneak that FB by for a strike.

They're gonna yank him early so working counts to drive up pitch count isn't a priority. The longer we let him hang around and wait for a mistake the better chance is he gets pulled before he makes it and they start with their matchup in and out BP shuffle strategy that keeps us guessing.

Hit the FB early in counts and put up some runs before the swapping starts and let Cole do his thing with a lead.

what are our thoughts on Brantley?

at a minimum I would like to see him moved down to 7.

He is 0-8 against Glasnow.

He did have two good swings to end last game but hes still on a bad streak. Vs a guy who clearly has his number.

Hinch already said in his presser yesterday that there wouldn't be any major changes to the lineup. In fact he said the only change would be Maldy catching instead of Chirinos. He also said Yordan was still hitting 5th. So that basically cements Brantley in the 2/3 spot.

Honestly I kinda like him in the 2 spot

If he gets it on track awesome. If not then he doesn't end an inning and still has Altuve behind him to pick him up.

You put him down at 7 then you run the risk of the 7/8/9 being a black hole not turning the lineup over.

I don't wanna see lineup changes. Roll with what got you here, play the law of averages. Go out and hit the damn ball hard and hope it falls.

You're right that pitch counts won't be an issue tonight. And to the extent Glasnow starts walking guys, he'll get pulled quickly.

To me, the five walks in three games stat is pretty damning considering we averaged ~12 in the same time frame over the course of the season. It's a big part of our attack that's been absent and it's been costly because our base hits generally aren't producing any runs.

I'm on the fence here. Normally I say work the counts and get the starter out, but that has t worked in our favor in any way this series.

Bottom line, gotta hit.

Cole is the key. Can he pitch as well as he has been in a high-pressure do or die game? I think so.
