He's under club control (arbitration eligible the next two years) through the 2021 season.

I've had a bad back since I was 15.

But to your point, back issues ended by baseball career after two years of college, so I could definitely see an early retirement.

Honestly thinking about Correas issue I think he's still had nagging back issues all along when he first returned

He basically just said **** it, decides that it wasn't worth risking re injury during the regular season now that we've clinched, because he knows that his money will be made during the playoffs when he's in the limelight....

He wants to be as fresh as possible for that playoff rather than risk re injury prematurely

It's all about Carlos in other words....
