I thought Bagwell was fantastic last night. Especially his insight into Abreu throwing all those sliders instead of the fastball. I learned a lot last night.

I'm not sure Abreu can locate his fastball yet.

Tucker has played his way onto the playoff roster. For a guy that just got called up in September and who was in over his head last season, that's a big deal. I think he will take Straw's spot away. That in itself is telling.

I think there's a perception around here that Reddick is like Paul O'Neill... a veteran stalwart outfielder who plays good defense, gives you good ABs and has good October experience.

The problem is he's been a horrible at the plate for the better part of two years and has a history of not showing up in October. He was so worthless in the World Series a few years ago that when he was up with a runner on first, I hoped he would strike out (instead of double play) so at least the pitcher would get a chance.

Reddick hasn't done anything to justify an auto starting spot. Arguing in his favor, to me, is like arguing for Hunter Mahan or Steve Stricker as a Ryder Cup captains pick because they've "been there" and they're "liked". No mention to the fact that they don't perform.

We have a guy right now who is likely (granted, not guaranteed) to be a much much better player. I'd prefer play the odds of the guy who is probably really good as opposed to the guy who has a history of not being good.

Last home date. Let's clinch this in front of the home fans.

Let's hope the team is focused and the fans keep their hands to themselves.

Deluxe just made an excellent post on this subject above.

Reddick is basically a black hole in the lineup and we will win in spite of him like we've done in playoff games in the past.

I'd rather insert a guy hitting .313 with a near .900 OPS to bat 8th to be another threat for the opposing team rather than somebody whose performance nearly all year has been awful.

It's really not hard to understand. And if Tucker ends up under performing the downside is basically the same as the expected performance of Reddick
