the Astros need to get back to playing the AL West -- that's where they make hay. The Chisox have been tough on the 'stros this year.

Houston had a 1 game lead on the Yankees after Saturday's big win. Now 3 days later trail the Yankees by 1 1/2 games

Read every other comment on the page, lifeless, turd, hangover, we just didn't care to be there

on the brightside...when NYY started its 11-game cupcake run...the Astros were in a virtual tie for the best record.

so they've only lost a game & a half in the standings. Need to win tomorrow to keep it at 1 1/2

Guessing it's just because he won't be able to pitch for a while anyways so they need his roster spot.

He can ride pine and rest in AAA while a fresh arm comes up.

They optioned the guy unavailable for tomorrow, since he threw 40 pitches there was no way he was pitching tomorrow so you bring up a pitcher

Looks like Sneed seems like a good candidate to come up for relief tomorrow

So right before the game as he was warming up, Josh Miller called down & told me his hammy wasn't feeling very good & didn't feel like he could continue. Devo was on his way to 'pen. He's usually the first reliever out there anyways. So we raced to get him ready. Scratched Cole & he came in to see the trainers and got some treatment. We'll get him tested even further & see where it takes us but he doesn't think it's that serious. I'm glad he told us. We hope it's mild. It was literally a couple minutes before the game.

So Biagini goes down, and Cy Sneed will come back up, pitch brilliantly and then get sent down again?

It's likely he gets a shot after the September expansion, but he's not on the 40-man roster, so it's less of a slam dunk than someone like Tucker.

I doubt he gets called up before September unless there's a rash of injuries.

He's also been a grease fire on the mound this year. They aren't calling him up until he starts missing bats and throws more strikes in AA.

Agreed. He's been inconsistent (at best) this year.

Though it wouldn't surprise me if he's on the big league club in September in low leverage situations. (When AJ throws a white flag early in games)

I thought options are year-based. You can option someone as many times as you want, but only for so many years.

You are correct.

Once you've spent so much time in the minors that year, an option is used.

Yes and no. Options are year based and you only get so many. Within that year you can send someone up and down as many times as you want and it only counts as one option. At some point years of service kick in and options go away. Jake was that way.

Biagini had one left and they just used it. So if something happened next year with him and he went south they could not send him down to work it out. It could tie their hands in the future.
