wow, the Astros got Greinke.

the D-Backs got some good players in return.

ultimately this keeps the franchise's championship window open thru the 2021 season...with or without Cole

I went into a meeting before this all went down. I saw the notifications live from twitter. But going back reading the pages and quick turn from pissed/disappointed to elated was very enjoyable.

We have by far the best rotation and very likely the best line up. Anything short of a ring is now a disappointment in my book, but Jeff has stacked the deck in our favor THAT much.

Add Springer in 2021.

Then consider that there's a good chance two of our best 5 bats will be getting paid peanuts (Alvarez, Tucker).

He sounded pretty giddy in that interview. I understand the money aspect but damn, can you imagine a full year of them next year? Surely that has to play into his decision.

that's right -- his luxury tax hit is $20 MM because of the cost averaging of the contract. Actual 1st & 15th payroll is $12 MM
