Example #8,546 ...A 2 pitch reliever who cant locate his off speed pitch is virtually worthless especially in tight spots.
If you are advocating for relief pitchers to have more than 2 pitches, I would argue that the best relievers in baseball history have largely been 2 pitch pitchers.

Not sure how you would think I would be implying that at all

Our pen is mostly unhittable either because we are throwing gas or because we can't hit the strike zone

Can someone explain this logic? I don't get it based on tomorrow and Tuesday's starters being questionable or straight unknown.

Yeah...this move is....perplexing to say the least.

Scratching my head on McHugh.

(half joking) Might as well put in Tyler White to get 2 outs with an 8 run lead.

I think I could like Straw on a regular basis.

I think Straw has earned a spot over White and Kemp...Going to be difficult for those two to stay on the roster.

What is Devo's mechanical issue?

It's not mechanical in my opinion.

It's that the league has realized he can only throw two pitches so you can pick one and sit on it. When he can't throw strikes it's even easier.

When the change was catching guys off guard he was untouchable. Now not so much

And the reason he struggles to throw strikes consistently is bc he falls steps toward 1st on every pitch, which is mechanical.

Our pitching wasn't great this series, but one additional can turn around both the staff and pen. I expect Luhnow to find a starter, then have the organization use a 5th day guy through September somewhere along the lines of Valdez, Sneed, maybe another minor leaguer. That keeps McHugh and Peacock in the pen, and makes a formidable relief corps- in leverage situations or eating innings- with Rondon, Smith, James, Harris, Pressly and Osuna. They're not always on, but by and large that group will help win October games in support of a strong rotation.

On the postgame, AJ said James will be the opener and Valdez will follow.

Why do they keep trying to make Framber a thing this season like White? It's not working

Why did they not try Cy Sneed?

the A's (53-41) win again. Nice no-show job by the White Sox this weekend.

Oakland is off Monday and hosts dreadful Seattle Tuesday and Wednesday.

poised to gain in the loss column this week while the Astros (59-35) are in Anaheim

no more road trips to Arlington this year. The final 5 games of the season series will be in Houston.

the Astros might be the Rangers' opening day opponent next season for their new ballpark

Why anyone throws anything to Altuve that's not sinking and moving away I'll never know, but thanks Rangers for throwing that meatball

Oakland has and always was the real threat. They are dang near even with us in run differential as well.

The season series is 4-4 between the Mariners and A's, with a decent number of the games in the last month or so.

Welp looks like help won't be on the way for an inning filler back of the rotation type pitcher.

It helps when you have a steady diet of Tigers, Royals, and White Sox in your schedule.

CFM May win the Cy Young if he stays healthy.

JV is still the heavy Vegas favorite followed by Cole and Lance Lynn Charlie 4th. That ESPN predictor has CFM just ahead of a JV but that's based only on what's happened so far,

I think CFM will if he stays healthy. He's going to regress a little, but he's not overachieving all that much.
