I used to think this, and then I started really thinking, what strategy is there really? The choice in most cases is do I keep my pitcher out there that is dominating in the 6th or maybe 7th down 3 runs when his time to bat comes up for offense? Generally the guy you're pinch hitting with is not that much better than the pitcher, but just can handle the bat a little better.

In reality you're having to chose between the lessor of two things that hurt you. Kind of silly when you think about it really.
