Further undermining the "Hinch made Astros underdogs in 3 games" theory, the Astros are in fact favorites tonight

Astros are underdogs tonight. Yankees are -130

Not sure where you get your odds from but Bovada has the money line at Astros -150

Vegas insider has it listed as Yankees -130

Fun game last night. I haven't read many of the media reports but all it looks like is that the Yankees are tipping pitches and we are stealing signs, with little credit to our hitters. The thing that drove me crazy last night is the HP ump called two pitches that were almost dead center of the strike zone balls. I don't think I've ever seen another pitch in all my years called that poorly, and he had two of them. Also looked like the Yankees pitchers were given massively larger strike zones than our guys. We pulled through, onto game 5.

It's not necessarily the commercials that are playing but it's coming back from a break when the pitcher is delivering the pitch to the plate.

I HATE this. They did it in 2017 and they are still doing it. Winds me the F up

Grienke was cool about it...I have a feeling if they pull that crap with JV he will let them have it.

Serious question: How much would it take to buy all the commercial spots in an ALCS game?

For context, the 2016 World Series Game 7 commercial cost $500k for a 30-second spot. You figure 3-4 minutes per half inning gets you $3.5mil times 17 side changes nets you $60mil give or take. Add in a few pitching changes and you tack on another $10mil.

What old Ag can we convince to buy all the commercial spots for tonight's game to leave the cameras on all the time?

I can't stop laughing. Steve Phillips on MLB Radio just proclaimed that the Yankees will win tonight, win the pen game in game 6 and take the momentum and beat Cole in 7. Poor Eduardo Perez is choking on air.
thats not unreasonable. If they beat Verlander they would carry a lot of momentum into game 6 which wouldn't have our best asset featured(dominant starting pitching).

We need to win tonight.

It is completely unreasonable. It would be up there with the biggest comebacks in baseball history.

Regardless of who has what line on the game, we were underdogs according to most books last night and look what happened. Just go out and win the damn game. And bring us some more KATE!

It may be unreasonable, but I think we can agree that the Yankees could pull one off tonight.

IF they pulled one off tonight going into a bullpen day, can you imagine the meltdown here over night and into tomorrow? There will be dozens of posters running around with their hair on fire. I bet you can name 5 of those posters right now without thinking or even taking a breath.

Not saying that will happen, just saying that we will have 18 hours straight of "discussions" on this board that would make all of us beg for a Tucker vs Reddick rehashing.

Like I said a few days ago, Hinch and the Astros philosophy can be summed up with a Michael Bay movie quote:

Losers whine about their best while winners go home and **** the prom queen. Only in our case we probably won't need to go home.
I refuse to think Michael Bay came up with that. Sean Connery obviously made it up on the spot.

Coming back from a 3-1 deficit in a seven game series has only been done 13 times in MLB history. Knock on wood and considering the rarity of the event, I don't think it's reasonable. It's a shot in the dark that no one will remember if he's wrong and he will claim to be a sports Nostradamus if he's right.

Thanks for the read gentlemen. It brought back all of the emotions I was feeling while watching the game:

  • How terrible Greinke was to start and I wanted Hinch to pull him
  • The elation of the Springer dinger
  • Holding onto my butt when Pressly came in and how in the world Hinch was sticking with him after the walk
  • The elation of the Correa knock
  • Holding onto my butt after the Sanchez vs James rematch
  • Laughing my ass off at all of the errors
  • Holding onto my butt when Osuna came back out for the 9th after a long top of the 9th
  • The relaxation knowing Verlander is going on normal rest tomorrow

I was hopeful someone had the pitch cast of the ball called on one of their batters in the 7th or 8th inning that was completely inside the zone box. I think Joe Smith was pitching. Total bs call

im not going to sit here and argue it. and im sure as hell not going to come say told ya so if we lose tonight. I am just saying JV in NYY is anything but a sure deal. If he happened to lose you are throwing someone who has no big postseason experience against a really good offense.

its not worth laughing at. This series is far from over and winning tonight would be huge.

Some of the calls were so bad last night I almost wonder if the strike box on the TV was misplaced. The calls seemed so egregious but none of the players were reacting all that bad to the calls.

The strike box was bouncy for some reason and on a few of the bad calls the catchers did some weird stuff, but there were still a few just ridiculous calls.

I mentioned it last night but Chirinos had an awful game behind the plate.

That was some of the worst receiving I think I've ever seen by a ML ctacher.

And a question about the mound visits...I thought you weren't charged a mound visit if you got crossed up?
