Yeah, I know you don't want to go to game 5....but we would have a game 5 with both JV and Cole available, wouldn't need to risk going to our BP at all.

Clearly JV is a guy that needs consistency in his preparation, and doing things against that has hurt his command.

I also think Urquidy gives the Rays a guy they haven't faced so they wouldn't be as prepared through the lineup

Hinch took an educated risk. He took a man among boys and said Win this thing JV. But JV is in fact human and and old one at that (in MLB terms). The analytics which make this team don't support the decision. It was made on old school gut instinct. In the Wild Card Era (since 1995) through 2018, pitchers starting on three days' rest or less since their last start in the postseason had gone a combined 30-44 with a 4.58 ERA across 120 games.

I however agreed with Hinch, if I would have reviewed the data out there I might of thought otherwise.
