bottom line is that if he needs to play in the OF you're not doing great because he's not a great hitting or fielding OF...
Don't you disrespect Marwin like that.
I don't think he's a Jake Marisnick level defender but he's a solid OF defender with a plus arm when out in the short LF.
Not elite defender but I'd consider him a good defender when playing LF especially when you take into account he's not a dedicated OFer.
I just have a feeling Marwin wants a role as a starting position player and wants to be paid like one. I'm not sure we have a spot for him in that role and not sure he wants to be a 4th OFer/spot start IFer/pinch hitter.
Not disrespecting him at all. I said he wasn't a "great fielding outfielder", and he is not. Like you said, he's got a good arm and he does well out there considering he played something like 15 games total in the OF as a minor leaguer...but everything out there characterizes him as "capable" or "solid", Not even above average.
If he hits like he did in 2017, he's a good enough fielder that you want him out there at ANY position - 1b, LF you name it. If he hits like he has the rest of his career you're happy with him maybe at 2b or SS where he is an above average bat and his fielding is much stronger...but his career batting numbers and a below-average glove in LF is not something I would be excited about at the price he is likely to command. At that price he needs to be on a team where he can get 500 PA as a middle infielder and provide insurance at other spots.
