I don't think the Marlins are unwilling to trade Realmuto. But there's no way in hell they only let him go for one prospect, even if that is the best prospect in the Astros organization.
First of all, it depends on the prospect. No one GAF if we have to throw in a Max Stassi or Derek Fisher or AA reliever or rookie league lottery ticket. I think that's the expectation, and both sides will negotiate and squeeze for just a little bit more & the smart guys like Luhnow will get good values oit of the "throw-ins"...but if you think it's going to be Tucker AND another top 10 organizational prospect, I highly doubt it. Realmuto is worth less today than he was at the trade deadline, particularly to a team like us that really could have used him in the postseason. If Jeter didn't get his big haul then, I doubt he gets it now, but what do I know? We will see.
If Tucker had done well in his brief stint and been on the postseason roster I don't see why they wouldn't trade straight up for a guy who is projected to be franchise type player. The problem is he was horrific. - and so was Trout in the sample size so it's not a death knell, but let's agree that Tucker certainly didn't improve his trade value or inspire a lot of confidence and I wouldn't stoop to calling him a lottery ticket but he is certainly no sure thing and I agree that because of that they will have to throw in some other players, but I think that's an assumption in any trade. I just don't think we're going to cry too much over losing the other guys relative to what we are getting back, as in the Cole trade.
