So did they kick out the fan who interfered? They did that in Denver to an Astros fan in left field. I thought that was automatic grounds for the boot.

Just imagine how 1/6 would've played out if DC hadn't had such strict gun laws.

Two people starred his post as of the time of this signature. Those 3 people are allowed to vote in the US.

Bregman just posted on Instagram him driving and singing "Won't Back Down" by Tom Petty and screaming "ITS FACKING GAME DAY!"

Then posted driving and singing "Under the Bridge" by Red Hot Chili Peppers.

Astros in 7. Lock it up.

So I am floored by the success McCann has had vs Price in his career.

Also Springer has 14 strikeouts vs Price in 24 ABs... woof
McCann is a 7x AS, 6x SS, and have received MVP votes twice (21st & 24th). From age 22 to 27 he had a .850 OPS.

He's a top 10 catcher over the last 25 years.

I also want him to start. Maldy may have an arm but he can't hit like McCann and he can't block a ball.

Good teams make you pay for mistakes. It seems like Boston has capitalized on every Astro mistake this series while the Astros haven't. You can't do that against a team of Boston's caliber.

1st- wild pitch runners move to 2nd & 3rd. Single scores 2 runs instead of 1.

3rd- wild pitch moves runner to 3rd. RBI Double next batter. He would score from 2nd anyways, but pitch selection is different with a runner at 3rd(especially with Machete struggling)

6th- Double off Springers glove. Would have been a great catch for 3rd out, but one he's capable of making. Bradley homer next batter

7th- Correa misses 2nd on easy inning ending DP. Sox score on a walk. Single, BB, BB, RBI BB in the inning for a run.

8th- Runner to 2nd on a WP. RBI single drives him home.

Boston is a great team, but I think the reason I'm so pissed is it feels that we are giving them this series. Getting beat is one thing, but gifting runs is another. Credit to Boston for taking advantage.

It sucks that what we expected to be a strength is a weakness.

We put up 6 runs last night. With this pitching staff that should be enough.

Pitching is just not executing and mistakes compound themselves.

What is surprising to me is that not one fan that had a camera out during Altuve's AB got a better angle on the play even if blurry. Some higher up angle that wouldn't have the security guard blocking the view of the yellow line.

I was just coming over here to say that I can't believe that nothing conclusive is on Twitter.

agree 100%...this is what is giving me such a sour taste on this series...we have basically gifted them 2 games...maybe even all 3

just install these at Minute Maid and you never have to worry about this happening again

Can we have these on a hydraulic system where the lean forward like this for the bottom of the inning and then raise back up for the top?

What do we anticipate the line-up order to be?

I think it's either going to be the same as yesterday or Springer and Bregman will flip spots.

Was trying to put my finger on where it all went wrong. My wife felt it was the interference call last night, my kid thought it was the passed balls on Sunday night. My friend swears it was the 8th inning salami on Tuesday night.

But we all know the truth here!

Bregman at the top had the protection behind him to make them pitch to him. He just didn't get a hit.

I personally would go back to Springer, Bregman, Altuve, Correa at the top. Then Yuli, Marwin, Gattis, Reddick, MaCann. That's is Altuve plays 2B. If he DHs (which I expect) then take out Gattis slide up Reddick and McCann and add Kemp at the end.

ESPN's Article on the "Interference"

Transcript from Joe West:
Quote:

What did you see that prompted the initial call of fan interference?
Well, when he jumped up to reach for the ball, the spectator reached out of the stands and hit him over the playing field and closed his glove.
So the ball had not yet crossed the railing?
No.
And Betts' glove had not yet crossed the railing, do you believe?
No.
Okay. Did the fan --
Here's the whole play, here's the whole play. He hit the ball to right field. He jumped up to try to make a catch. The fan interfered with him over the playing field. That's why I called spectator interference.
So it's a clear call in your mind?
Yes.
Were there already -- was there a single call that you saw, that the replay officials saw on replay that confirmed --
I don't know what he saw. He just -- the replay official said I was right.
Okay.
That's all. He said I have nothing that can change it.

The ONLY definitive thing West could have seen from his position (besides his beer gut) was that the ball was over (higher than) the yellow line. Thus HR. Just like us fans....he had no better angle or perspective.

He should have called HR and then let replay sort out the rest if in doubt.

What I'd like to see:

1. Springer
2. Bregman
3. Altuve
4. Correa

I think Correa has done enough for us to feel better about him in the 4 hole. Definitely can't have a silent bat behind Bregman if he hits third.

So McCann has a lifetime .344 batting avg with 3 HRs in 32 ABs vs Price proving that he can hit Price even though he is a LHP and Hinch STILL starts Maldonado...

Is it an out only because they were the home team? What if Boston hits that? Out or Ground Rule double?
How soon you forgot about old Bartman.

Doesn't matter what team is hitting or who the fan is rooting for. Interference is interference. Unless you're that 12 year old kid in the 90s. I think someone mentioned it already, but remember, that was before instant replay. The ump called it a HR, and that was it. There is no overturning it.

Honestly, from maybe a more non-biased view than many of you, I think that the amount of time between when this glove/hand/ball collision happens and when Bett's body hits the fence, and his hand being nearly straight up, is a clear indication he was still in bounds.

If his body was already against the wall when this missed catch happened, it would be one thing. But his body clearly still travels a few feet after the missed catch before his wall collision.

My other take on this; if this was the last play of the bottom 9th, and this walk off HR gives them the win, that is one thing.

But it wasn't. It was first inning. They had all the time in the world to get a win. In any sport, you can't really blame something for a win or loss when it happens so early in the game unless the team is simply perfect after the bad call.

Astros were far from perfect. You could blame this loss on Kemp trying to get to second base (he would have run in considering the events that followed), or if Correa didn't fudge the double play attempt, or when we hit a batter which forced a run... a number of other plays.

Exactly... Reddick has hit lefties well this year too.

7 HRs, 22 RBI, .269/.319/.507 vs Lefties

10 HRs, 25 RBIs, .231/.318/.351 vs Righties

Put in Pear Body. Probably gets a hit and takes away at least a run from a passed ball.

In fact, he had a worse view. If you look at photos from in front of the play, the spectators' hands and arms appear as if they may be in front of the wall. But, photos from the side show that they are behind it.The guy lunging over from the right is the most obvious. His left hand is on the wall. Since his body is leaning at an angle to the wall, his right arm would have to be behind it. The other fans' hands are right by his.
