Regarding Beltre. I'd like to see the Rangers sign him for 2019. We don't really have anything else and signing someone like Machado might be of benefit hitting wise, he will likely be very expensive.
So, let's look at the Rangers organizationally at 3B.
MLB level options:
Profar - Better suited for MIF.
IKF - Transitioning to C
AAA
Andy Ibanez (25, 32 GP @3B): .299, 5HR <- Cuban player signed in 2016. Good hitter, moderate power, serviceable defense (if that good). Average arm. Ranked as #30 prospect.
Nick Noonan (29, 19GP): .240, 3 HR
Christian Lopes (25, 17GP): .248, 7 HR. FA signee in off-season. Just starting to play 3B.
IKF - 34G.
Hanser Alberto (25) - More a MIF, Utility guy
AA, AAA
Luis Mendez (25): 10G - .167, 0 HR <- Played at both AA and AAA.
AA
Juremi Profar (22): 21G - .208, 3 HR
Luis Yander (26): 15G - .258, 1 HR
Luis Marte (24): 12G - .223, 1 HR
Yanio Perez (22): 12G - .227, 0 HR - #15 ranked prospect. Could play 3B, but scouting report by MLB projects best case is RF and likely a 1B.
Our lack organizationally to draft 3B is glaring.
