In the MLB, a playoff team is a title contender. I imagine he'd be ok going to any team with a good shot at making the playoffs if he does want to chase a ring.

Regarding Beltre. I'd like to see the Rangers sign him for 2019. We don't really have anything else and signing someone like Machado might be of benefit hitting wise, he will likely be very expensive.

Yanio Perez (22): 12G - .227, 0 HR - #15 ranked prospect. Could play 3B, but scouting report by MLB projects best case is RF and likely a 1B.

So the Yankees and the Astros have the same likelihood of winning it at all as, say, the Rockies or Pirates?

At 4/4.5 games out of WC, the Rockies and Pirates are still playoff contenders.

But they aren't legit title contenders. Could it happen? Sure... But my question is if Beltre wants a trade to go chase a title, is he content with it being on a Phillies/Cardinals-esque type team that is still in playoff contention but a logshot to do any real postseason damage -- or would he rather play out the season with his teammates in Texas if he's not going to be playing for a Houston/NewYork/Boston/etc... that he could realistically be the piece that puts them over the top.
