Gallo looked like he was about to **** up Bellinger. We may not beat the Dodgers in baseball but no doubt we'd win a brawl.

You have 2 psychos in Kela and Rougie and 3 absolute monsters in Gallo, Maz, and Guzie. There's no doubt we'd win that fight
Don't forget the biggest contribution from Brocail and Bannister is probably their toughness. They met in a brawl after all.

If the rangers want to end this game and go home, they should pitch Barnette. He would probably give up a walk off Home run.

Barnette giving up the walk off playing in Arlington? Assuming that he pulls that off that might be the only thing that gets his name in the records book.

Don't feed the troll by replying to him. But FYI the game is in LA tonight.

Ahh. Googled the score (since I can't follow the game here in Japan) and it showed the Rangers as the home team.

ETA - headline has it backwards but the boxscore was correct

So never mind...

No worries. What time is it there?

Ugh... error on Matt Bush to end the game in the bottom of the 11th

Looked like Matt had more time than he knew to throw that ball to home. Also makes you wonder if Chirnos didn't get ejected if he could have gotten the runner out at home.

Straight up 3:00 in the afternoon. 2018 Pacific tropical storm #93 just cleared up in time to prevent any tourist activities for the day, but it's been great here all week otherwise.

I don't think it would've mattered who the catcher was on that last play.

Wow, that's quite the time differential. Enjoy your time there.

Pitchers have been awful at fielding their position this year on this team. Lots of errors.

YoMen coming up, and it's sounds like they want to keep him around too. We're in full rebuild now.

Also, Julio Pablo Martinez went up to short season A ball yesterday after torching Dominican Summer League with a .409 BA and 1.288 OPS.

Not completely sure of all the moves coming. Last night I heard Gallardo has a provision that on Friday (tomorrow) a decision needs to be made to release him or bring him up.

Looking at the rotation, he appears to be listed for Sunday.

Today: Off
Friday: Mendez
Saturday: Minor
Sunday: Gallardo
Monday: Colon
Tuesday: Hamels
Rinse-Repeat.

Fister? Looks like I saw he is being placed on DL for knee strain. Alberto replaced him on the roster.
Moore is moved to the BP.

AFAIK, Gallardo is a FA after the season. This is a good trial, I suppose.

Do you know if YoMen is up just for a cup of coffee (1 GS), or are they planning on him staying? Ariel Jurado came up for 1 GS and returned to AA with a great performance.

It might depend on Gallardo's performance and Fister's recovery?

ABD is going to want to visit, as well.

Also... have they announced the roster for Spokane? I think we're going to have some pretty good pitching there.

I saw where the Rangers signed their 1st 5 picks and sent them together to Arizona. A big thank you to Cole Winn (1st Rd), who signed for less than slot, in order to give Englert and Easley some extra scratch.

I'd be interested if the Rangers were able to find some incentive for Winn, a "team" sacrifice, or the Rangers had arranged a deal before picking. It isn't uncommon, in recent drafts, where a team might take a player higher than they were projected, with an understanding they wouldn't get full slot.

Hans Crouse is the opening day starter in Spokane.

If I've done math right, it looks like we have more math to do.

Winn: $3,738,500 signed for $3,150,000 => <588,500>
White: $1,257,500 signed for $1,250,000 => <7,500>
Ornelas: $622,800 signed for $622,800 => <0>
Englert: $464,700 signed for $1,000,000 => 535,300
Easley: $347,100 signed for $500,000 => 152,900

What is that... about $92,200.

Should be interesting.

Sweet.

Full roster:

Julio Pablo Martinez is 3rd ranked prospect (22, eta 2020).

I'm not sure that a team like Spokane has firm roles on the roster. A couple IP here... some there...

The rest of the Org (all but AAA) are using a 6 person rotation. I don't think that translates to Short-A. For those unfamiliar... the NWL is generally considered a league where recently drafted college players begin. Lots of 21-23 year old players.

There was complaining about why MLB would draft players who still playing college ball. I think one reason MLB won't push back the draft, is it affects so many other things. It was the NCAA that has pushed the CWS later into the summer. With the NWL traditionally seeing these college kids, if you wait until after the CWS, then those kids that are done playing, can't get started on their pro career.

Likely starters and players who interest me:
Hans Crouse: 2nd Rd 2017, 19, eta 2021, 6'4", 180lbs

Tai Tiedemann, 8th Rd 2016, 22. 6'6", 195 lbs
Returning to Spokane (2017: 10GS, 3.83 ERA, 1.626 WHIP).

Ryan Dease, 4th Rd 2017, 19, 6'3", 175lbs <- Recently pitched 1 GS in Hickory (6/12) went 5.0 IP, 0 ER, 3 SO, 0 BB. Likely SP?

Emmanuel Clase, IFA-DomR in 2015, 20, 6'2", 150 <- Likely SP. Kinda meh.

The other pitchers:
Jake Latz: 5th Rd 2017, 22, 6'2", 185 <- Not sure if RP or SP

Sergio Suarez - only pitched as RP
Francico Villegas - FA previously with Hou, likely RP.
Seth Nordlin - Likely RP
Blake Bass, 8th Rd in 2015, 25. Meh RP. kinda getting old. Injuries?!
Royce Bolinger, 6th Rd in 2012, 27. Looks to be converting to RP.

That explains comments last night on the radio.

Tocci had gotten up to the on-deck circle, only to have Chavez bat. They didn't understand the move and indicated no one was up in the bullpen. They were like, "I guess Chavez is just going to bunt and they plan to save Tocci for a later move." When the sac bunt failed, they were like, "Well, the Rangers basically just gave up an out. Maybe Banny is concerned the game may go late and might run out of pitchers."

They speculated that maybe Martin wasn't available, but were questioning the situation.

I guess he wasn't available. I'm wondering if they made the call to get Martin up, and he tried, which is why Tocci was in the on-deck circle. Only to get reported back that it was a no-go.

I didn't watch the game last night and only just now saw the replay. Why is no one outraged over what Matt Kemp did? That was complete horse***** He was thrown out by a mile. He willfully plowed into the catcher and then initiated contact twice after getting up. I hope he gets at least a week off.

I really don't have an issue with the slide. Maybe my memory is faulty, but it seemed like a decade ago, it would be celebrated as good, hard baseball. Now, they have become so rare that perhaps one could call it "cheap" because Chirinos wouldn't have been expecting it, but I wouldn't personally. I get Chirinos being upset initially because nobody likes to be ran over like that, but I really don't have an issue with it.

The snippets I heard from both managers after the game seem to indicate it wasn't a big deal to them either. Maybe there's more from Banister that I haven't heard.

Chirinos didn't have a problem with the slide. What pissed him off was Kemp leaning into him and giving him a shove when he got up

It can be done fellas

http://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/23794298/minnesota-twins-send-slumping-3b-miguel-sano-single-fort-myers

Sano has a better career up to this point than odor.

The twins made the right choice. The question is will the rangers?

Send Odor down when Elvis gets back.

It felt a little bit like what you see in hockey. A player makes a hard, but legal hit that introduces some injury risk and probably wouldn't have been made by many other players...but again, its legal...the other team gets upset because you could have hurt someone, so you get into a little scuffle to note your anger at the initial hit.

But then you move on.

Kemp wasn't looking for a fight or to hurt anyone. He appeared surprised that Chirinos got up close and shoved him as Kemp was getting up off the ground. Then Kemp got mad at Chirinos' reaction and got into the shoving match.

Is that what he said?

Because Chirinos definitely leaned in and shoved Kemp as Kemp was getting up...which made Kemp turn around and shove Chirinos.

On the radio, they said collisions like that used to be common. They weren't real sure what the problem was. If anything the new rules indicate Chirinos has to leave a path to the plate, so in a sense, Chirinos could be the one at fault. A review might have sided with Kemp.

He has been outed as an Astros' sock and the only contribution he continually makes is the denigrate the Rangers, specifically Odor.
