I already dealt with one bet welcher on TA. Gotta cover my ass this time.

Picking the defending division champion to miss the postseason 5 years in a row seems awfully lopsided towards you and you didn't even give me odds. The least you could do is pay now so I know you won't welch.

While part of me wants to ensure that he goes through with this the other part of me wants no part of seeing this carried out.

Arlington taking inspiration from MMP?

Should have waited another year to plan the stadium so they'd know where to put the Torchys.

If Daddy loses out it would still be the 5th best regular season ever in Arlington history.

Not to being logic into this thread, but if the Astros lost out, it'd still be our 4th best season ever

WTF happened?

The earlier drawings showed a nice park that obviously borrowed a lot from MMP. This now looks like hot garbage that again borrowed from MMP.

Why do they need a new stadium? Is the one they play in old/decrepit/broken?

So I went to the Arlington thread to see what they thought of their new park and found this absolute gem.

For reference, Andrus is 29. Anybody remember what we thought about him 3 years ago? Now he's on his way to becoming our Derek Jeter/Craig Biggio/George Brett.

Since they emulate everything else Houston does, they will probably leave it up as an abandoned eyesore for the next 20 plus years, while they decide to remake it into a combination casino and water park

If they use artificial turf, we need expansion and/or realignment to go with it. Even golf-scarred grass beats that.

At age 29:

Biggio 938 hits
Andrus 1447 hits

Biggio 492 runs
Andrus 745 runs

Biggio 57 HR
Andrus 55 HR

Biggio 163 SB
Andrus 265 SB

Biggio 191 2B
Andrus 249 2B

Biggio 3 ASG
Andrus 2 ASG

My apologies - I shouldn't have included Biggio in the comparison for great players who spent their entire careers in one city.

Pretty convenient cut considering that Andrus' first full season was when he was 20, and Biggio's was when he was 23. Through their first 9 full seasons:

Hits
B 1,444
A 1,447

Runs
B 860
A 745

Home Runs
B 113
A 55

Stolen Bases
B 262
A 265

Doubles
B 276
A 249

All Star Games
B 6
A 2

Edited to add: 4 Silver Slugger awards, 4 Gold Gloves and 2 Top Ten MVP finishes. Compared to zero in all those categories for Andrus.

All in 39 fewer games and 245 fewer at bats. Although the fewer at bats make sense since Biggio also managed to walk 182 more times than Andrus over the same stretch of their careers.

So disappointed that our new ballpark isn't up to the sophisticated standards of Houston. Maybe if we had a fat guy in overalls riding a choo choo train in the outfield y'all would approve.

Just ignore the fact that in Elvis' 9th full season on baseball, he currently has 150% more home runs than his previous season high. No one goes 6, 0, 5, 3, 4, 2, 7, 8, 20 naturally.

Yeah Elvis is just so roided up. You may want to steer clear of Marwin Gonzalez's career HR numbers.
