Which is why I think the Rangers should have suggested that if they were to swap then the revenues for the 6 games goes to hurricane relief.

The Rangers still take a hit from a baseball perspective, but it largely takes the finances out of the equation and puts it towards the right place. I think anyone who had a ticket to those September games would have been ok with that.

Agree with this. If you swap, the revenues from all 6 games should be earmarked for hurricane relief. This seems like the best solution.
So the Rangers should have given up revenue for 6 games, while the Astros give up revenue for 3 games? And technically, the Astros revenue was already lost. Those games were not being played. For this 3 games, they got 4K, 6K and ?K in attendance. That is what they were able to recover from their loss.
Oh, it's never been about profits for me. I really couldn't care less about the money. While I understand JD's reasoning, as I've said all along, I would have taken up the Astros on their offer. I also think the Astros should have taken the Rangers offer once JD rejected theirs. The more money to relief efforts, the better, IMO. I don't think JD deserves the reaction he's received, which is why I've even touched this subject. I've said all along that neither side was "wrong", but both could have been "more right". I'm typically a path of least resistance/err on the side of compassion person. That said, JD being raked over the coals has been uncalled for, IMO.

Fair enough. We will agree to disagree. I do not think what the Rangers offered was reasonable and you do so we will never agree.

Have a good evening.

Cool, why the personal call out? Why not just use Ryan's name?

Didn't read like you liked what the Rangers had to counter offer for the last 6 pages.
Did I or anybody else personally call out other Ags? C'mon man.

Didn't realize saying "starting to sound selfish" is calling you out, then by all means I called you out as being selfish. But if that's how it is yes I called you out. Sorry it touched a nerve.

derm,
I hope your sister is doing fine. I've been praying for y'all. I would like to ask your opinion on the above posted comments from Keith Law. Does that at least help see the perspective of the Rangers a bit better?
I understood that before I read that. I just think the Rangers should have bit the bullet and if I was GM of the Astros I would have switched series. I guess I just think differently but when there is stuff like this involved, money considerations go out the window. Guess that is why I am comfortable and not rich. And sorry but I do not think the Rangers are going broke. Aren't they building a new stadium with tax payer dollars?

Thanks for the prayers. This has been a saga.
Derm... it isn't just about the money.

It was about trying to be entitled to more than you were offered. The use of the stadium and revenue were just part of the offer. The Rangers would have to employ everyone and pay for the cost of the concessions, while the revenue was donated. The Rangers offered a seat at the Thanksgiving table and Reid Ryan said he would come to Thanksgiving dinner, unless the Rangers gave him the whole of Christmas.

I've bent over backwards for someone this summer. Covered everything, flew him to and from the Midwest. Drove him to and from Houston. Given him tons of money to help him out (paying a ticket, and bills). I offered him an older computer (3 year old PC) and he scoffed at it wanting a $1500 Mac. Nobody in my family has a computer that nice. He needs a DSLR... he was offered a $200 DSLR by someone. I suggested a $300 DSLR and he scoffed that nobody would buy him the $1500 DSLR he thinks he deserves. I want a $1500 DSLR, but won't spend the money. Then, he thinks I'm flying him back to my house for Christmas, so he can collect Christmas presents from us, so that I can drive him to Houston to get Christmas presents and then I can pay for him to fly him back to the Midwest. I told him to tap the brakes on all that flying. I've been more than benevolent, but I'll be damned if he isn't telling people how terrible I am because I won't buy him a new car (he suggested I could give him my car), a new $1500 DSLR and a new $1500 Mac.

It is that perspective that I see what Reid Ryan did. He thought he was entitled to something more than was offered and then complained to the media because he didn't get the gifts he wanted.

Maybe Reid Ryan wanted to keep our triple A players and JD wanted to switch.

ANY team in a race for a playoff spot would gladly eat those operating costs if it got them 3 more home games. That is extremely far from a burden for the rangers.

While you say a prayer for everyone in SE Texas, tack on a prayer that this beast turns north. Harvey was historic rainfall, Irma will be historic wind speed. Already Cat 3, and projected to be Cat 5 with a strong chance of entering the GOM.

I couldn't stand Chris Carter, but he was actually good at drawing walks. Odor is basically good at nothing. And locked into a $50 mil contract...

And yet he's OPS'd .888 against the Astros for his career. He's basically good at beating yalls ass.

He really tries his best to impress Daddy in yalls World Series.

We're too busy having the best record in the league, adding an ace for a run at the actual World Series.

*adding an overpaid, past his prime middle of the staff guy to a totally busted rotation in a last ditch effort to make it out of the ALDS.

More importantly though, I think we can all rejoice in texas getting ****housed at home by a bad B1G team today.

Tom Herman didn't last a half without getting booed at home. The only way this day could possibly be better is if the Rangers canned Buechele's dad for being an incompetent clown.

Hmmm.... middle of the staff?

Arlington's Ace (Hamels)
3.92 ERA
4.63 FIP
1.169 WHIP

Astros Middle of the Staff (Verlander)
3.82 ERA
4.04 FIP
1.279 WHIP

And it's only trending down.

Whatever makes you feel better. Keep lying to yourself.

Just speaking from what we've seen firsthand:

http://www.detroitnews.com/story/sports/mlb/tigers/2017/08/15/live-blog-tigers-rangers/104631826/

Verlander's final line: 6 IP, 8 H, 5 ER, 0 BB, 8 K

He'll fit in well in Houston getting roughed up by the Rangers like that. How much are y'all paying him? $20mm/yr?

By year over year you mean he's not replicating his 2nd place Cy Young finish from last year. Big deal.

His K/9 % is 3rd highest of his career.

But keep trying. Eventually, you'll stumble onto something.
