I could see potentially playing a DH today and then hoping that the 1 game doesn't matter later. That said, these WC races have been pretty nuts the past few years coming down to the last day and tie-breakers. Not to make a huge deal of this, but by this statement of yours then you are basing everything off of business only and nothing to do with humanitarian help correct?? If the rangers were that concerned, then why couldn't they have just made a bold announcement and said they were going to donate whatever millions they were going to earn by having the games in their park and lets play later??

Slow down. That was simply a hypothetical looking at the schedule and seeing how they might be able to fit 3 games into the balance of the season while trying to minimize how much gets played at all this week. I didn't even get into location of any of it. Just talking how to make a dent in getting the 3 games done while leaving the players with more days off this week.

I had just gotten off the phone talking to a poor guy trapped by floodwaters in Beaumont. I was able to get him help but looks like he is pretty sick. And that post personally calling me out got to me and I got pissed. So apologies to all and I will go back to my safe boards.

To me it sounded selfish that what the Rangers offering a deal to play in Arlington, and offer proceeds wasn't enough. They had to switch the series (common sense) but weren't quick enough to offer more.

And the moving situation I posted is the same scenario, a guy needs some help. Unfortunately the help isn't available and offers a way to help and more but the original person just gets mad that he got his original request denied.

Cool, why the personal call out? Why not just use Ryan's name?

Which is why I think the Rangers should have suggested that if they were to swap then the revenues for the 6 games goes to hurricane relief.

The Rangers still take a hit from a baseball perspective, but it largely takes the finances out of the equation and puts it towards the right place. I think anyone who had a ticket to those September games would have been ok with that.

Agree with this. If you swap, the revenues from all 6 games should be earmarked for hurricane relief. This seems like the best solution.

and even better, MLB could have come out and said we will match all proceeds for all 6 games. We all know they have more than enough money, as do the owners, they can afford the hickey from this.

There is probably insurance to cover some of the losses anyways.

You have no idea if it was offered. What was disclosed was about not swapping games.

And it was easy for you to say. It isn't your money. Houston isn't entitled to it. Reid Ryan disclosed that this was as much about hurting the Rangers' chances at the WC, saying the Rangers are not as good on the road and it wouldn't be fair to Minn, et al.

The Rangers have donated money, and they are giving 10% of this weekends gate receipts.

It wasn't enough. The money was not the overwhelming issue that got the games moved to Tampa. It was gamesmanship by Reid Ryan.

Last point. The Astros would have had a packed crowd in September. The Rangers would have given up home atmosphere in Sept... for a last minute piece-together game.

The Astros were in no position to bargain. They weren't offering anything. They had nothing to give.

So the Rangers should have given up revenue for 6 games, while the Astros give up revenue for 3 games? And technically, the Astros revenue was already lost. Those games were not being played. For this 3 games, they got 4K, 6K and ?K in attendance. That is what they were able to recover from their loss.

I understood that before I read that. I just think the Rangers should have bit the bullet and if I was GM of the Astros I would have switched series. I guess I just think differently but when there is stuff like this involved, money considerations go out the window. Guess that is why I am comfortable and not rich. And sorry but I do not think the Rangers are going broke. Aren't they building a new stadium with tax payer dollars?
