And being a casual fan I had no idea of the hatred of Reid Ryan. That is the most obvious thing responsible for our divergent opinion.

Any dislike of Reid Ryan is directly attributed to this I think. I didn't even remember he was their President until this all happened.

Agreed. I know there's tension between Nolan and JD, and there's a faction of Rangers fans that will always dislike JD because they're firmly in Camp Nolan, but I've never had a gripe w/ Reid until this. Just highly unprofessional. But, I'll try and give him the benefit of the doubt and chalk it up to stress and emotions during an absolutely horrifying event that's ravaged Houston.

That's the funny part: I'm pretty much team Nolan and don't particularly care for JD. I just don't think the way he's be portrayed has been a particularly fair take on it.

I said that many pages back. There is bad blood between Daniels and the Ryans. None of us will ever know the inner details, but I would be willing to bet my last paycheck that if any other team were involved, something better would have been resolved.

It just came down to 2 grown men that don't like each other trying to decide how to handle this. I think they should have just cancelled the games for now and replayed them later if they needed to. Altuve is the leader of the astros and he stated clearly he wanted to be home with his family. You know the others wanted to be home also.

Crane should have stepped in and said we are not playing right now. Maybe in 3 or 4 days but not now. MLB would have caved to the public pressure and would not have "forced them " to keep playing regardless of the tragic events still unfolding down here.

I too think that in theory the ideal option would've been not play this series right now. However, this late in the season, the Rangers have two off days left, and the Astros probably about the same. And then you might not know until game 162 if the three games are needed. What happens if the Rangers are a game back of the WC after game 162. Everything in MLB gets put on hold while the Rangers and Astros play a series?

Definitely agree there is bad blood going back years between the Ryans and Daniels, and it set the table for both a lack of agreement and the PR campaign afterward.

I could see potentially playing a DH today and then hoping that the 1 game doesn't matter later. That said, these WC races have been pretty nuts the past few years coming down to the last day and tie-breakers. Sept 7 and Sept 18 are the only two off-days that both have remaining, but Sept 7 falls in the middle of a west coast trip for the Astros and Sept 18 is the same for the Rangers. So tacking it on to the end as an "if needed" would be the main option.

And fwiw Ag Grayson Long went to the Tigers from the Angels in the Upton deal.

Actually just switch moving dates and you can keep the party. Terrible analogy as that is not what happened at all. Also I was not flooded necessitating a move. You do not get it. My sister with cancer just got evacuated from Beaumont so I am done with folks like you.
