So I know you are a brother in Christ retired Ag. Do you believe the Rangers did the right thing?
And it ain't the game that bothers me. MLB is a distraction to me until cfb starts. How many times have I posted on this forum before?
To me, it is just somebody doing something fairly obviously wrong for the sake of money, playoffs, "inconvenience to season ticket holders, etc. and fans not only defending the decision but blasting the other side (who has suffered a tragedy) for questioning it.
But it is okay. The good guys win in the end.
Peace out.
As I've said before, if I were JD, I would have taken the Astros up on their offer and swapped series. That said, if I were Reid Ryan, I would have taken the Rangers up on their offer and played the current series in Arlington as the "home" team and taken all the proceeds as offered.
I understand the reasoning behind the offers of both franchises, and as I said, I don't think either side was inherently "wrong", but both sides could have been "more right". Both sides made offers based on business reasoning. This isn't about "winning" or "losing" though. That's a flawed way to look at this. I don't think the Rangers were trying to get one over on the Astros. I don't think the intent of either side was to screw over the other. Sometimes there's not a clear-cut answer to a situation and compromise is the result, which is where we're at right now.
If I'm going to point a finger anywhere, it's at MLB. This should have never been a decision to be made by the two franchises. MLB should have immediately stepped up and said "this is how it's going to be". MLB has shown an alarming lack of leadership w/ this situation.
