Sure I'll answer. Obviously none of those things would have happened, but it would have shown compassion to a city that has endured unimaginable loss over the last for days. It would have shown that they hand some modicum of decency and humanity to sacrifice a little in order to help a little....it may not be a lot in the grand scheme of things, but in terms of morale to fans it would have been huge
Instead the jerk saw an opportunity to take advantage of the situation and gift the rangers 3 home games
I'm glad the astros did not take his 'selfless' offer of help
He didn't see an opportunity to take advantage of anything - he didn't want to lose his September home games. In the grand scheme of things, where three baseball games are played a month from now has no bearing on a city recovering from a disaster like this. It's more or less meaningless, which is why I agree with the decision and don't have a problem with it.
I'll be willing to bet no MLB team will donate more money to the relief efforts than the Rangers will. That's what's important in a situation like this.
I'm NOT going to willingly put my baseball team at a scheduling disadvantage because of something that happened in another city, affecting a different team's venue, since it has no real bearing on helping with recovery efforts. I WILL do whatever I can to actually help in the recovery efforts, whether it be giving financially, etc.
