Well, I can keep going.

Nick Martinez is throwing 6 walks per 9 innings. He was at 3.5 and 3.3 the previous 2 seasons.

Derek Holland: 3.1 walks per 9 innings. Not above 2.7 per 9 innings since 2011. 3.1 is what he threw his rookie year.

And so on.

Its endemic.

And it goes beyond just walks. It goes to missing spots and/or getting behind in at bats, helping lead to the collective beatdown that has been being delivered lately. And it hasn't seemed to improve this season, which is my primary concern.

If there was ever a time for the wave, a game we are losing by a large margin, after a lengthy rain delay, is it.

Rangers pitchers have walked 19 batters in this series.

Minnesota just might win the rest of them and win it all

So.... how does a pitching coach affect the walk rate for guys? Especially a veteran guy like Cole?

Recognizing something atypical in their delivery and correcting it, helping them develop proper pitch selection when they're having trouble, for whatever reason, with a pitch, helping them adjust their location selections, and even down to when they go out and pat the pitcher on the butt, calming the pitcher down and convincing the pitcher (and catcher) to not try to do too much.

Makes sense

Pitch location is job number 1 for a pitching coach. You don't really teach a guy to throw a fastball in the upper-90s. But you do teach guys how to locate that fastball. And that's something even grizzled veterans have to work on regularly.

(Now, obviously a pitching coach can teach pitches but I hope you know what I mean.)

Its still early in his tenure, and perhaps its something, given another spring training, he can reset for next season.

Profar is hitting 0.194 against left handers with a .451 OPS.

I didn't say Fielder is killing it, but even as ****ty as he's been much of the season, Profar has been worse.

There can't be many staffs that go to 2-0 or 2-1 counts more often then the Rangers.

Remind me again why we are indicting Brocail?!

I don't like the walks, but ERA is much more important. The last couple weeks the strike zone seemed arbitrary and last night LeClerc showed 3 straight pitches that appeared to be strikes, but were called balls for one particular batter.

I've been to games where quite a bit more natural light comes in, just depends on the time of day, of course.

But seeing how the plans for the new Rangers stadium looked a lot like Minute Maid with Rangers logos posted on it, we'll just have to see. :-/

That's what I saw... looked kinda like what they put over Wimbledon. Wonder how a glass roof would affect fielding fly balls (if at all).

At this point I don't even care if Yu comes back 100%. Make a move for a top SP either way. We need a boost of confidence in a big way and maybe that will give it to us. Personally, I would like Sonny Gray. He hasn't had the best year but he's a proven ace. God knows pitching for Oakland has to be frustrating and coming to a title contender may do him some good.

I'm not too wild about sending top prospects to Oakland to see them haunt us.
