Ive watched Lohse twice in Round Rock
He's pitched better than I thought tonight...his ERA was over 6 one night I went

Am I the only one who's really starting to wonder about Brocail?

This rotation, through the first couple months, was one of the best in baseball. Unfortunately injuries have wiped them out and in return taxed the bullpen. Not worried about Brocail yet.

When everyone was complaining about Holland, I knew what we had.

I had hoped for better, but am not surprised.

Lohse hadn't shown much in AAA, but I had held out hope.

As rough as last year was for Lohse, it was better than what Chi Chi or Martinez were offering. He also wasn't any worse than Chi Chi at AAA this year. Part of this was hoping being back in the bigs might spark his focus to a level that AAA couldn't. Not so much, at least today. Worth a shot though.

My goodness. Feels like we've had a ton of those lately.

Darvish goes tomorrow in Frisco. He is expected to go 5.0 IP. If all goes well, I think he is scheduled (per DMN projections) for the 2nd game after the ASB. Perez - Darvish - Hamels.

So, that will be a move.

That will also get us to 4 SPs.

Colby could be back mid-August.
Holland picked up a baseball, yesterday and will likely be mid-to-late August. Many are reporting Holland may not have enough arm strength to be put back in the rotation.

Nick Martinez went to AA. I can't imagine he will return.

I could see Banny refusing to take Chi Chi.

We'll need someone... Hopefully the GMs will get together during the ASB. TONS of teams need SP, though.

If Darvish has a good outing tomorrow, it could dictate what kind of SP you get. If he is sore, you may go big... Gray, Taveres (Atl), Odorizzi. If Darvish feels good, maybe you feel like you can get a less expensive option - Pomeranz, Matt Moore, Santana.

Oakland gave up on Griffin and look what he has provided.

I don't know that anyone could get Chi Chi, Nick or Ramos or Lohse to be MLB pitchers this year. Ok... maybe he could.

Ramos, at 32, had like 10 career GS coming into the season. He has had 4 this year.

I have no opinion on Brocail, but the recent failures are not necessarily on him. All but Ramos have not been in Arlington during the season. Brocail got what they called up.

No, you're not the only guy wondering about Brocail.

There is a roster-wide problem with throwing strikes, hitting their spots, and generally being able to control an at-bat, which is done by locating pitches.

And its not gotten better. Its gotten worse.

He had not thrown more than 2.6 walks per 9 innings since he was a rookie.

He's the third starter throwing 3.8 walks per 9 innings.

His career is also shorter, but he hasn't thrown more than 3.3 walks per 9 innings since he first broke into the league when he threw 3.6. He was at 2.7 in 2013 when he was a rookie of the year candidate.

I think so.

Looking at AL Pitching, BB/9 have gone up from 2.9 to 3.1 for the league average. I don't think that accounts for it.
