Oof oof oof on Kon's measurements also. There's just no way I see him being a contributor defensively, so that means he needs to be elite offensively and I'm not sure he can be.
Sorber and Fleming's wingspans are very impressive and would obviously contribute to causing deflections and challenging shots.
Bryant measured smaller than I thought he would, the game tape though shows him to be disruptive defensively, so we'll see how the rest of the draft process treats him.
If we stay put, I'd take a draft of Bryant and Fleming.
I'm not surprised by Kon's measurements at all. His selling point is his offense and having enough IQ to find a way to not be a total waste on defense.
Sorber and Fleming both very impressive wingspans. Having +9" arms is crazy length.
He came in a little heavier, which is good, but he's shorter than Steph with just a +1 wingspan.
So the question is if he will be closer to Luke kennard or Tyler Herro. He's got both those guys a little bit on size but they're both negative Defenders.
Herro has a negative wingspan
I think Kon is/will be stronger than both of those guys and rebounds better, so he'll hold his own on switches to bigs better imo. Getting switched into quicker guards, he's gonna struggle.
Offensively, I think he'll be closer to Herro than Kennard. He's got some really nice passing instincts and looked really good with the ball in his hands as the primary guy during those games in the ACC tournament where Flagg was out.
Keldon was 6'4.5 216lb 6'9 wingspan with 8'8 standing reach.
Kon is essentially in Keldon's body with less arms (8'5 standing reach.)
Herro put up 24/5/5 this year and has good shooting numbers. If you think that's what Kon can be, he is a no brainer. He's also 20-30lbs heavier than Herro.
I think you take him because maybe that is who he is. But the possibility that he's a 6th-7th man.
If we stay at 8 and Kon is there I think he's a no brainer. He very well may be gone before we pick though. But if we came away with Kon at 8 and Fleming or Sorber at 14, that fills several holes on our current roster.
Yeah, I agree. I think that is the way you play it. My choice at 14 is probably Bryant then Fleming then Sorber, but Fleming's size really makes me want to pick him.
Fleming is going to be 6'10 235 in shoes with a 7'6 wingspan and he shot 56/39/74 this year.
Bailey shot 46/35/69 this year and is shorter and doesn't defend as well.
Bryant is a more polished defender and defended against higher level competition. But Fleming is 2" taller, 6" longer wingspan, and 20lbs heavier. And we need a PF that can stretch the floor. Fleming just feels like a taller/longer Naz Reid starter kit to me.
