Got my 9 year old daughter addicted to card collecting and she can't go into a store without buying some packs to open.

EQL closing soon for Topps Pristine. $779 for a hobby box of 42 cards. 3 encased autographs tho (including 1 auto relic). If you got $$$ to throw around it looks like a pretty sweet product.

I'm convinced the EQLizer is BS. The breakers and card shops must get 90% of the allocation from these drops only to 2-3x the cost to the people that want it. The real consumer cannot get anything "reasonably" priced unless it the ultra low-end stuff like Topps Flagship or Hoops.
Yeah maybe so. I'm about 2 of 7 on EQL attempts. Struck out my first 4 times. Then won on the Signature Class hobby box release. Missed a couple more then got in on a Chrome Black basketball hobby box.
Just entered the EQL for a Topps Chrome Black basketball hobby box. $350, 13 cards, including 1 encased auto.
Finally opened the Flagship Football hobby box. Decent product. Lots of RCs (zero Medozas pulled). My "hit" was a David Bailey RC (#2 overall pick) patch. ~$10 card. I'll probably hold onto it and hope he has a great year.
The better pull was a 30/50 Mojo Gold chrome Sam Darnold. I'll go ahead and flip it.
Also pulled base RCs of KC Concepcion and Cashius Howell to go in my Aggie RC collection.

Opened a Flagship Hobby and Jumbo. Hobby was a wash but in the last two pack and two silver packs of my jumbo, I hit a Pickens Touchdown SSP, a Jamar chase /75 and a Marvin Harrison Jr orange auto. Total salvage of what had been a rough rip

Preordered some 2026 Bowman Football hobby and jumbo boxes today. Likely going to resell a couple and rip a couple.
Thought about it but opted not to pull the trigger on a hobby box. Tying to sell some stuff before buying more. I'm sure I'll get some blasters and mega boxes when they hit the store shelves.
I think if I do Bowman football this year I will wait for Bowman Chrome. I believe last year the Bowman Chrome product was just college focused. As far as I can tell for NFL prospects, their college cards don't hold quite the value as their NFL rookie cards, but maybe this year is different with Arch being the chase and 5-7 QBs projected to go in the 1st two rounds of the 2027 draft.
Boy and I opened a Bowman Basketball mega box I had sitting in the closet for a rainy day. To say the least, we were very pleased. First, he pulled this Chris Paul 23/25! Normally I'd be thrilled if that was my only hit from a retail box.

But, then, by far my best pull ever. Dylan Harper Blue mojo refractor on card auto, 033/150.

I lobbied to sell it but he really wants to hold onto it. So, needless to say (and it pains me to say), I will be the biggest Spurs/Harper fan this season. Crazy how these are valued, as if he's already a perennial All-NBA player.

I saw a card collecting stat that over the summer, Harper had the fourth highest amount by dollar value of card purchases on the auction sites. He's pretty popular.
How we feel about the Topps 75 update release? $109 for a hobby box sitting out there on Topps.

Baseball? I'm no help. I don't know much about baseball these days.
Re: Harper, that's why I lean toward selling the card. Really good player who may end up great. But the prices are just overinflated, IMO. By comparison, I can get a nice Kyrie RC auto for $200-300.
I can certainly see your side of the story regarding the Harper card, but I do think it's kinda cool that your son wants to hold on to it. I think there's something to be said about "pride in ownership" when pulling a rare card like that, even with knowing there is no guarantee that Harper becomes a star player in the long run.
Absolutely. I'll keep it until he wants to sell. "My collection" is really his collection someday. It's certainly a fun bonding experience for us.

Hoping I can get get on for a couple of boxes…ordered a few Heritage football yesterday…disappointed they didn't start further back…love the '73 and '75 designs
My guess, based on the success or 25-26 Flagship, is that the print run will be massive. I think I'll sit out for the pre order and maybe pick some up later. If I can control myself, lol, I may skip it altogether and save my funds for Chrome and Finest.
I'm just an old set collector so I just stick with Flagship and (now) Heritage. I've done Baseball Heritage for the last 10 years and will stop once I complete this year's high number. The '68 to '77 designs match the oldest 10 sets that I have and will now transition to football.
I get hobby boxes because I enjoy some of the interesting parallels and such but I only keep a few in the end....but for me there's nothing like opening packs and building a set like I did as a kid. Started throwing papers in 5th grade just so that I could afford to buy cards.

Certainly respect that. My first set was '88 Topps baseball my dad got me for Christmas. Of course, I opened it and went through every card. I put together a full set of 25-26 Flagship basketball from all the boxes my son and I opened.
But I've got so much bulk now that I've been trying to whittle it down and focus on a few players I like.
