New Gilvony mock draft has Detroit taking Risacher #1 overall and I think that is perfect.

Also has us taking Topic #5, and we only have a 2.2% chance of landing #5.

Gross would rather have Castle than Topic.

Same. I think my board right now is probably:

1. Sarr
2. Castle
3. Holland
4. Reed
5. Cody Williams

Trae Young putting up that "trade me the **** outta here" performance.

But being guarded by Caruso, so it is understandable.

Castle is everything Primo could be if Josh was taller and didn't have a thing for flashing female coaching staff.

Go get him, Wright.

Me watching the Hawks implode while we have their next three unprotected picks.

Yeah, I think the Spurs pass on Trae unless they just steal him. No way we give their picks back.

That injury really hurt Topic. If we could have seen more game action this year, maybe we would feel differently about him. At this point I would take Castle and Dillingham before him.

Hard pass on dillingham. When he is screened, he just gives up on the play. He's even worse than Trae on defense without the ridiculous ceiling.

We have enough other needs that it doesn't really kill us to fill a different need right now and look elsewhere for a point. Also PGs generally take a while to cook and both Topic and Dillingham are going to be projects, so I think we are probably better off just giving Tyus Jones 12-15M/year for two years.

Yea. I don't want to trade those bad boys. If we don't make a trade with the hawks, they will surely look to unload one of Trae or DeJounte for a win-now type of player but I'm not sure what would be available to them. Would NOLA be willing to give up someone like Ingram for Trae?

That is what I have been kicking around the last couple days. Ingram and Zion don't seem to coexist very well, especially with the offense running through Zion.

But if the problem was that they don't coexist well and the offense is running through Zion, would the same problems happen with Trae and Zion? That would be an incredible PnR duo. But NOLA was doing a lot of Jokic-like offense through Zion and that doesn't seem great for Trae.

How many picks is NOLA happy to give there? Ingram+Lakers pick this year for Trae? I assume Atlant would want more.

But Atlanta is a lot more interesting with a core of DJM, Jalen, Ingram, Hunter, Capela than they are as currently constructed.

The Lakers offer is like Reaves+Rui+3 firsts for Trae. Ingram and the Lakers 1st is better.

I agree. Ingram to the hawks makes them a playoff team. Reaves to the hawks keeps them where they are as a playin team.
Guitarsoup

And I like that NOLA team, especially if they can add a decent center that can play next to Zion. Is that Kyle Flipkowski? He works on defense and has shooting touch to stretch the floor on offense.

* Flipkowski / Jonas
* Zion / Nance
* Herb / Trey Murphy
* CJ / Jordan Hawkins
* Trae / Dyson Daniels / Alvarado

Needs help on post, but I think you mainly use CJ to run 2nd team offense. Would continue to be a great shooting team and still have good defense. It's an interesting team for both.

* Capela / OO
* Jalen Johnson
* Hunter / Garrison
* Ingram / Bogdan
* DeJounte / Bufkin

Plus Atlanta would have #10 (own) and #18 (Lakers via NOLA) to add talent here. Salaun and Deron Holmes? IDK, I dont look past top 8 much.

Yea that would be a scary NOLA team. They have Daniels/Murphy/Herb that can easily slot in at the small forward role to replace Ingram.

Taking it back to the Spurs, I think we are underestimating the type of player that is going to want to play with Wemby, even during his first contract. I think we can do better than Trae Young. I just can't get past his size. It's a killer.

I'm totally content in letting the Hawks trade for Reaves and further implode.

We just grab Castle or Holland in the draft and roll into next year.

A thing that permeated in the exit interviews with media was how much fun the team had together. Not something you see on a lot of 60-loss teams. But they aren't down and depressed. The whole team is optimistic. We are in a good place.

I agree. If you take a step back and look at the season as a whole, the Spurs were upward trending since the 18 game losing streak and moving Vic to 5. I think that is something we can carry on to next year while making small impactful additions and retaining all of our draft capital.

So I have a Matt Bonner story.

My SIL used to work for the Spurs during the glory days. The Spurs were filming a skit/commercial for their big "tux and tennies" benefit, their big fundraiser every year.

The premise of the skit was that Bonner was trying to put together the world's greatest all-redheaded youth basketball team. But they didn't have the numbers so my SIL said "I've got a couple nephews with a tinge of red who are ballers" and she got permission for my sons to be on the team.

So we loaded up and headed to this private outdoor court outside SA for filming.

Bonner was into it and he ad-libbed some things. The best one was he had the team all circle up for an "important pregame speech", where he was going to tell them the most important thing a real player needs to remember, and then produced a giant bottle with a handwritten label that said SPF1000. Bonner was great- exactly as you think he would be.

The final punchline was when they panned down the row of the team as they were getting ready to play, and last in line was the ringer: Kawhi in a red Little Orphan Annie wig.

Afterward, one of my boys D'd up Kawhi and stole the ball. Should have known then Kawhi would end up dogging it.

JJ Reddick just told a story about how Drake was playing in Austin and asked Wemby to come up on stage with him during the concert. Wemby asked if the other Spurs at the concert could come with him and Drake's people said no. So Wemby refused.

JJ Reddick said there are very few low maintenance superstar anomalies and the list is Steph Curry, Tim Duncan, and Wemby.

Kentucky may be close to hiring Mark Pope as its next coach, which is potentially significant because rumor is Reed Shepperd has indicated he would return to UK for his sophomore season and not enter the draft if Pope is hired.

With being marked as a top ten pick, staying another year would be idiotic

I finished the interview. Towards the end, says that Wemby's assists picked way up towards the end of the season and the team ran the offense through him. KOC asked if he saw himself being a point center like Jokic and Wemby said definitely and that the league was moving that way.

I think this is another data point that we aren't going to focus on getting an elite PG, but will work on adding defense, passing, and shooting around Wemby.

The 14 team, the Warriors and Nuggets with Draymond and Jokic being the focal point of the offense creating for others and even the inside-out of 95 hakeem surrounded by a midPG (Kenny THE JET Smith) and a bunch of shooters all makes sense as blueprints for the team.

This makes it even less likely we draft Topic or Dillingham and focus more on guys like Sheppherd, Castle, Holland and possibly Sarr.

I seriously don't understand the Topic love. He screams back end lottery at best. Clingan would be by 2nd pick just based on his floor being ridiculously high and his ceiling being Jarrett Allen. Like I don't understand how there's more than 1 prospect id feel better about taking than Clingan.
