Yea I am still trying to move EG and Tucker if I can to get younger or grab picks. I love the way this team is playing but not taking them in a series against the top dogs
EG gonna be tough to move without giving up an asset.
I agree. Although his numbers look a lot better post Harden. Contract is ugly though
I disagree. Again.
And I think now that he's playing well I am more right than before.
It all depends on how the season goes. If we stay hot and look like we might be able to make a playoff run, then it would be dumb to trade him...because it's not like we are going to get anything of real value for him...but if trading him ends up being the right move, I do think we could trade him for an expiring contract without having to give anything else up, which would be a long-term victory just by virtue of getting out from under his contract.
But all of you saying he doesn't have any value need to leave 2020 behind and start watching with an open mind. He's a leading 6th man of the year candidate. Someone will eat that contract for 2 years and change if they think he can put them over the top.
I get you. Again, a lot of what ifs. I 100% agree he has looked way better lately, I just hope it continues. My issue with EG for his entire tenure with Houston has been consistency. I guess where I am at with it is whether or not his presence on the team makes you a title contender or just helps you make the playoffs with a first round exit. I think you can argue that getting his salary off your books would be a huge relief.
31 - 16.8 mill (currently)
32 - 18.2 mill
33 - 19.5 mill
34 - 20.9 mill
This does lead me to an inquiry about Rafael Stone though. I wonder what his strategy and/or mindset is right now with this team? It has looked great as of late, but does he think its enough to compete with Brooklyn, LA x 2, Milwaukee, etc. OR is he still in asset acquisition, auditioning players, holding out for best offers, etc.
If I had to guess its probably somewhere in the middle and a wait and see approach....
