Yes, some people are cruel and thirsty for blood. And all of that is a totally separate issue that has nothing to do with what he said to Westbrook.

lol you're losing focus of the context; this is a he said/he said situation....1 person has an established history of racist remarks aimed specifically AT Westbrook. That context is important to whether I should give this fan the benefit of the doubt or not. It's really not that hard.

And Westbrook has a history of firing off on fans. That context is important to whether I should give him the benefit of the doubt or not. It's really not that hard.

Hate that we have gone to a place in society where if someone does something dumb in their own personal life, that people seek out to destroy that person's entire existence by trying to get them fired, invading that personal life, etc.
He publicly tweeted that...under his real name. That's not some form of e-bullying and it's entirely relevant to the incident. Maybe we as a society should be more careful about the way we use social media to post racist thoughts?

The incident and his Twitter feed are both irrelevant to his career and people had to go digging elsewhere to find out who he was and where he worked so they could extract millennial Justice in trying to get him fired
at the same time, maybe you shouldn't say racist/hateful things in public? Whether you like it or not, you represent your company when you are on social media. So if you can't keep it clean, you shouldn't be on it.

That being said, the people that go on these crusades (good word for it) need to have the tables turned on them, as they are also scumbags.

Yes, Westbrook has a history of firing off, I said as much in a earlier post. What he doesn't have is a history of lying or race baiting. You see that difference, right?

Seems to clearly be a gay reference IMO. Not that he should be subjected to either, but the race angle is laughable. The guy might be a racist, but he was calling him a c**ksucker

ok. More evidence has come out (apparently). Now i'm more comfortable blaming the fan in that situation.

And agree with Danny. There wasn't a racial component to his comments on the court and finding an old twitter comment to continue that narrative is irrelevant. He made a gay reference.

Yes, there's no way to prove intent and it's up for debate. But I'm still disagreeing that the tweet is irrelevant considering the audience (westbrook) and it's message (go back to where you came from). It is 100% relevant and within the context of the altercation.

Either way, this convo has prolly ran its course. I actually dont even like Westbrook and look forward to watching him flounder in the playoffs.

What's the new evidence that came out? The race angle is absolutely ridiculous. I think Russ knew exactly what the comment meant and took the race angle after the fact so that he didn't come off as homophobic.

The fan made a joke/comment about Russ being on his knees because he had the ice pads on? Maybe I have thicker skin than most, but my friends say much worse than that to me on the golf course on a weekly basis. I don't think that comes close to verbal abuse and doesn't even warrant a comeback from Russ. I've also had worse said to me by people who aren't my friends, people on opposing teams, opposing fans talking **** at college football games, random drunks at bars, etc. And I have never once felt the need to respond or fight back to someone making a dumb/not funny comment about getting on my knees.

Give me a break. I understand fans can go over the line when talking to athletes. I get it if the athletes lose it if the fans mention their family, something personal to them, etc. But unless there is more to the story (maybe I haven't heard everything), I don't see why Russ blew up like he did. I'm not defending what the fan said or did, but it seems like the SJW mob has gotten out of control in this situation. Not sure one dumb/not funny comment deserves a fan to get banned for life, lose his job, etc.

He most definitely did not get his money's worth. That lifetime ban is a joke. Spend an inning in the bleachers at Yankee stadium sometime. It will take a half-inning to hear worse.

His name was Robert Paulson.

Unpopular opinion- guy wasn't racist in his response, but very likely an A-hole and have no problem with him getting banned for being an aggravating a-hole

I doubt your friends are screaming it with the vitriol some of these psychos have at NBA games. These people in the first 5-10 rows think they can do whatever they want because they have money. They are starting to find out thats not the case.

Thanks for posting that. I love laughing at the Lakers, especially their fans.

Who else is ready to watch the NBA rig the ping pong balls to get Zion to LA with Lebron?

What is going on with the Thunder? They were 38-20 on 2/22 (3rd in West).
Since then they have gone 5-11and sit at 8th.

They had one of the easiest schedules through Allstar break. PG also hasn't been the same since his shoulder injury.

This is old news, but it's still amazing to me. In 1986, Larry Bird led the league in 3's made with 82. That was 12% more than the next closest player that season. In 2016, Stephen Curry led the league in 3's made with 402. That was 45% more than the next closest player that season.

Good. Magic is my favorite player ever, and a great business man. As a coach or front office guy? Not so much...

Hopefully they get someone who understands the modern game and start to turn things around. I also wish they'd keep Luke, but no chance of that happening.
