Carmelo is the same liability that Ryno was last year. I'm not sure why you all think he is any better than that. He is more or less the same shooter and he has the same defensive shortcomings. My only hope was that Melo would be an upgrade in the rebounding department where Ryno was a weak defensive rebounder and a slightly above average offensive rebounder. After watching Carmelo in the preseason and last night, I think it is clear that he won't be an upgrade in any department except for long 2s...which Ryno doesn't take.
After having some time to think about it I think the most concerning thing about last night is what rvk pointed out. We didn't look that bad at any time last year.
Hopefully it is just our new players getting used to each other because we looked like a below average team with those guys last night.

We didn't have cp3 against TOR or LAC and GSW can score 130 on anyone.

I was actually at all 3 of those games last year and they were frustrating but they didn't feel like last night (with the possible exception of the Toronto game). We looked slow last night and gave up a layup line for most of the game on D.
I'm sure it was just one bad night and I'm just over thinking it because it was the season opener. I'm just a little more concerned than I first thought.

I don't think Ennis is a scrap heap guy either. He has potential.
