What drama was there last year that was detrimental? Some of you Spurs fans are so insufferable

So what should they do? Not try to get better? Tank like apparently 80% of the teams in the East?
Right now, nobody is in GS hemisphere, but if there is an injury to them, or maybe if things work out, they can add another piece the following year?

OKC has to take some risks, and if PG goes elsewhere they may lose out, but right now, that is a good team.

OKC's biggest problem last year was that they didn't have anyone that could run the team while Russ took a breather.

PG13 can run the team and is a hell of a lot better than Dipo+Sabonis.

Also, the risk could also be that if Westbrook and George really like playing together, they could do it for 17-18 in OKC, and 18-19 in LA.

Again, its a risk, but I don't fault them.

It would be nice if the East acquired a few West stars.

How stupid was LA to sign that big deal with Luol Deng? I hope it keeps them from getting Russ & George.

This is significantly less than what he could have gotten.

He never took a big payday in all his past contracts.

Yeah, don't know. He's a 32yo guard, has had major injuries, and while he plays effectively, he is a sub-20mpg player. That's about the contract Patty Mills should have gotten, too. That's MLE-production.

As someone who is moving from OKC to MSP I'm also liking what the wolves are doing, but it's time for that team to step up to their talent level.

Holy *****.. didn't realize the Thunder were paying Steven Adams like 23mm a yr on average the next 4 years. Oops.

This was a great move by OKC. They know they have no chance of keeping Russ with their current roster so go get another really good player and you gamble on being able to either keep them both or if they both walk, you have a ton of cap space in 2018 to splash around in the market. Only giving up Oladipo (this generations Aaron Afflalo. Basically the portrait of just an ok shooting guard) and Sabonis to make this move.

Funny you mention Afflalo, a lot of fans here in OKC have yearned for him for years

Nothing wrong with Afflalo or Oladipo either. Both are solid players... just people overrate them and they are both mostly just ok off guards. Oladipo mostly because Bill Simmons ogled him for like a year and a half.

Per ESPN last night:

With Paul George moving West, only 1 of the top 14 players in last year's #NBARank will be in the Eastern Conference.

The best move Memphis could make this season is to literally move the city about 100 miles to get East of Milwaukee.

Even if it is Warriors vs. Cavs in the NBA Finals for the fourth straight year in June 2018 (reality is probably 90% chance that will be the case barring some major injuries), the NBA office has to be thrilled with how the NBA off-season is playing out thus far.

Houston (with Paul & Harden), Oklahoma City (with Westbrook and Paul George), Minnesota (with Butler, Wiggins, etc.), Blake Griffin being possibly 'The Point Forward Man' in Clipperland to go along with the usually consistently good Spurs and of course the Warriors...lots of interesting story lines to follow during the regular season over in the Western Conference. Trying to watch Chris Paul and Harden learn to play together, Westbrook and PG learn to play together, etc. will be fascinating to see how well they come together. If Blake Griffin stays healthy, can he be the fulcrum of the Clipper's offense to keep them as a playoff quality team?

If Boston can land Gordon Hayward, that will also make them a more compelling story as maybe just a little bit more credible threat to LeBron in the East.

All we are missing now is Knicks doing something crazy like buying out Melo and him joining the Cavs...or some kind of other trade of Melo.

The season is lining up to be pretty awesome I think. I know I posted it above last night, but I'm moving to Minneapolis and I'm really excited to see if that team can FINALLY play up to it's talent level.

I really wouldn't mind seeing Hayward pick Miami.
Distribute some talent.

It appears that the tax rate (no state income tax in Florida) may actually appeal to a guy like Hayward, versus what Massachusetts has.
And he will be looking to possibly opt out after 3 years, so the 5th year utah offers may not be that big of deal.
