Yeah Lakers won that trade. Russell is a bottom half PG long term and Mozgov was an atrocious deal. They rent Lopez 1 year and can even trade his expiring contract for a better talent in the best case scenario
Don't know. Russell is only 21 and has all of the tools to be superstar in this league. Either way, this off season has already been more exciting than the playoffs.

LOL @ Dwight Howard the journeyman.

Next, the Spurs trade Kyle Anderson and a bucket of churros to the hawks for Belinelli and Plumlee.

I get why the Lakers did this what with the talk George and Lebron both might want to go there... but Russell can play. Deeming him a bottom half pg long term is super premature.

Now just send Deng with the 27,28 picks to Indiana for Paul George.

I don't understand the push to get PG this year. He's coming next year so why give something up for him. I'd try to package the late picks for a high draft pick next year. Get Ball, PG, Lebron?, Lopez, and some high lottery rookie and that team seems pretty salty

Because the Cavs are trying to get him as well and they are afraid if Cleveland can pair up Kyrie, George and LeBron, he might not want to going Luol Deng and some rookies in LA.

Ok, that's at least an answer. I don't think its likely to happen because if I'm the Pacers there is no way that I'm helping the Cavs get better, and I can't believe the Cavs have a lot of young assets to send me to help launch a rebuilding effort. I'm looking for draft picks, young talent, and to send him to the West (which the Lakers fit).

I think LeBron will be do what he did the last time he was in Cleveland, and a little bit in Miami.

Have the team pay for the now with the future. Refuse to commit long term, making it tougher to get guys to commit there. Leave team with little future and no flexibility (but worth it because he delivered a championship).

I think he will go elsewhere in a year or two, and the question is what team can help him win.

In the East, he will have the easier road, but would he go to Boston or Philly.
In the West, I suppose he could pull a Durant and go to the team that just eliminated him from the championship run, but I really don't see any other team except LA.

I would really prefer if there was a greater migration of stars going East, not Eastern stars coming West.

Is Atlanta finally going into rebuild mode, making Milsaps more available?
They are going to have a ton of cap space, and I'm not sure why.

If the Lakers 2018 pick falls between 2 & 5, the Celtics get it. If it is #1 or 6 or later, Boston gets the Kings' pick in 2019, unprotected.

So they don't get both picks.

Boston has 8 first round picks in the next 3 years.

2017:
#3 & 17

2018:
Brooklyn's
LA Lakers'
Boston's

2019:
LA Clippers'
Memphis' (1-8 protected, 1-6 protected in 2020, unprotected in 2021)
Boston's

That's a pretty nice set up, especially when they already have a solid foundation and some cap space.

With all those picks, why don't they call up the Cavs and trade for Lebron? You telling me they couldn't make CLE at least think about it for a couple of minutes?
Iowaggie

But that isn't what LeBron would want, and the Celtics would want to know that he'd be there more than 1 year.

LeBron would rather they keep all those future assets so that the Celtics could acquire a few more players to join him, not use up all the future picks to get him.

Funny to watch because he's Dwight yet I feel a little bad for him. He was like the last great model of the previous generations centers and the game literally just passed him by. I don't think he's like deteriorated much... The game has just changed drastically.

The Clips are talking about a DeAndre-Drummond swap. WTF is LA thinking? The oldest team in the league is making a play for one of the slowest centers in the league where his style doesn't match today's game.

The NBA notified teams in a memo Wednesday that the projected salary cap will come in at $99 million, about $2 million less than estimates in April.

In addition, the luxury tax has been lowered from $121 million to a projection of $119 million.

For the record, I think Paul George is a dick for being so public about his plans to leave and where he thinks he is going.

If he had gone to the front office in confidence, and told them "hey, I'm out of here next summer", they would have kept some of the leverage they had in trade talks.

Now, the Lakers, who had no chance at competing this season, get to draft and go through free agency planning ahead knowing they will have an all-NBA 3/4 combo coming to town.
He's also an idiot. He'll lose money because he shrunk his market to 1 buyer. there won't be a bidding war. If the lakers know he only wants to play for them, they will offer below market.

It would be nice for some top western conference players to move east once in a while.
