I'm curious after how many losses in this series will the Rockets fans blame the refs and say that league will never let them win because of some weird conspiracy theory?

Ever notice how rocketfan always tries to deflect to citysmack because their sports arguments are so tepid?

SA is a dirty, gritty, working class city that figured out how to monetize a dirty little creek and field a basketball squad that is the envy of professional sport.

I love it. Puro!

Yeah how dare you kick our ass for over 2 decades in basketball! Well at least our city is better than yours! (Houston is not a cool city)

It's talk trash about the city or talk trash about a playoff series that happened before the class of 2016 could wipe their own ass. They don't exactly have a lot to go on.

That was a nice series. Choke City.

Houston...what a sad sad sports town. Spurs have more titles in 20 years than their city has in ALL sports for decades

Robinsons 95 MVP trophy can be found in the basement of the Alamo!

In our defense, we had to make room for all the hardware we've won since the Clinton administration: couple of Larrys for The Admiral, three more on top of that, couple of MVPs for some scrub named Duncan, three Finals MVPs for that same selfish dude, bronze medal for Timothy, gold medal for some crazy Argentine, another Finals MVP for a random Frenchman (just to be diplomatic, you understand), six Western Conference Championship trophies, and a Finals MVP and a couple of DPOYs for Pop's Kawhibot.

Just not enough room. Into the Alamo basement went tAdmiral's MVP hardware.

Don't forget coach of the year trophies too!

Crap, forgot about the CoYs and RC Buford's Executive of the Year award.

See? Just not enough room. Maybe we can grab some space in the observation deck of the Tower of the Americas? This is getting out of hand.

There are full-blown adults, grown-ass men and women, mind you, that have never witnessed the following:

1.) the rockets win the Western Conference (much less a title)

2.) A playoffs that did not include the Spurs

But seriously, I respect the fact that Rockets fans have stuck around after the choke jobs and even during the down years. It's much more than we can say for Mavs fans. Their "season threads" are just sad now. Hell, they rarely even show up for playoffs anymore.

I honestly have no idea what to think about this series. If rockets are on from 3 this series, they'll most likely win, but if they're shooting 30% like last series, it's gonna be close.

If the Rockets shoot under 30% from three, they have zero chance at winning the series. They were 28% in the first round, which was the worst among all 16 teams.

The Rockets outscored the Thunder by 58 points in the 46 minutes that Russ sat in the 1st round. That and that alone was the difference in the series.

When Russ was on the floor, the Thunder outscored the Rockets by 4.9 points per 100 possessions.
When Russ was on the bench, the Rockets outscored the Thunder by 51.3 points per 100 possessions.

Rockets have no chance against the Spurs if their players don't hit threes. They will not win shooting <30% from behind the arc.

FWIW: the Spurs are hitting 41% of their 3s in the playoffs and they achieved that playing the team that gave up the 3rd least points per game for the season.

The Rockets were 26th.

Those numbers are damning for houston. They'll have to get red hot from deep against the best 3 point defense in the league AND hope that SA's bench does nothing all series. Not impossible, of course, but that's a tall order.

Speaking of the bench, here's a fun fact: when Patty Mills scores 9 or more points, SA is 42-3. We're 22-20 when he scores less than 9. And Mills already has notched a game winner vs. the rockets. In Houston.

The Rockets offense is designed for layups and threes. Yes, we will have trouble beating the Spurs, and any other team, if we aren't hitting our threes at a decent pace. Real ground breaking analysis.
