if the Spurs didn't score in the 4th quarter they still would have won by 12.

Why ask questions you already know the answer to?

Simmons is about to get PAID. Steady hand on offense, throws it down when the defense makes a mistake, and played excellent defense with superlative effort. One of my favorite spurs.

Aldridge finally played the game he should have been playing all along. Great to see.

Murray also played a lot better, albeit against a lackluster opponent.

At least James Harden didn't break the NBA Playoff record for turnovers in an elimination game. He set that record with 12 in 2015.

Harden was at Treasures all night last night. He dated Courtney kardashian. Not that hard to figure out.

When that GSW team was put together my hope for the Spurs was to have a great season and play them in the WCF. We didn't get that last year and it left the season feeling unsuccessful. I know it a win or nothing culture we have now but I personally think winning 61 games and losing to the Warriors in the WCF is pretty good for a team with 7 new players.

Btw, Vegas has the Spurs at +900 if any wants to hit it big. GSW is -1600

So yeah they look unbeatable. But hopefully we get some entertaining games. I truly think the SpuRS have the pieces to make this interesting if Kawhi is healthy. We've seen the Warriors wear down in a long series... just need to win that first game.

All assuming Kawhi is better...

I guess the thing we have going for us is that we have a lot of tough, physical defenders.

Green on Klay
Kawhi on Durant
Simmons on Curry
And Patty may do alright on Curry for short periods so you could drop Kawhi to Draymond and try to keep him from creating for other players.

Outscoring them is going to be hard.

That's probably better than any other team can match up with those three defensively. What to do with Draymond is the real problem. Guy is just solid all around. He's averaging 15/9/7/2b/2.7s in the playoffs. That's insanity. He can guard Kawhi or LMA. He's 21 of 41 from three.

What we have going for us is that outside the big 4, everyone else is playing like trash. And even Klay isn't shooting well.

I guess we will close every series out this year in 6 like '03.

I really think today's game have this team a massive confidence boost going into GS I think if we take game 1 we can take that series we played GS better than any team in the league this year

The Spurs aren't getting any respect with the books -- they open as 10 point dogs -- but I think that line will be bet down.

So, not having Kwahi is certainly not ideal.

But you never know how this could play out.

03 was also the first year it was even possible to do that.

I woke up this morning and initially felt like the Spurs winning by 40 with LA playing like a beast, Simmons being a more than adequate Kawhi replacement, and DJ Murray outplaying Harden MUST have been a dream. No way that really happened, did it?
Aggie_3

I'd love to put 200 on Spurs +900

Simmons really stepped up. If he keeps playing like that, then it gives the Spurs some real versatility against the GSW small ball lineups.

That was the inside out, big-centric style of Spurs play that I expected all year when we signed LMA and Gasol. That was probably the best Spurs performance of the year and it was without Kawhi and Parker. LMA probably had his best game as a
Spur. Can't ask for anymore under the circumstances.

If nothing else it should give the Spurs some confidence to stay big against GSW next round, even if GSW shoot lights out a game or two. It's likely our best chance of winning.

Also, Pop is amazing. Anyone that says he wins just because he has superstars needs to watch this game on repeat.

Is this almost pointing to playing LA and Kawhi separately? Or was LA a little banged up/in his head all playoffs, and last night he finally just HAD to be the guy and was able to get past all of his issues for one night?

Some of what we saw last night was Houston, no doubt about it, but our offense looked fantastic. Possibly the best it has all year. I'm not advocating moving away from Kawhi offensively at all, but is his iso game sometimes hurting the flow off the offense, specifically for LA? This wasn't beautiful game-level, but it was a more fluid offense. I know iso-ball will almost always result in less of a flow, but I don't think we've been able to figure out how to make it work efficiently within the rest of our scheme.
Ulrich

I didn't feel like Aldridge's touches were dramatically better than they had been the rest of this series, but he was a LOT more decisive going into his move, which is what people have been screaming for all playoffs.

But all that tells me is that when he gets the ball he needs to be a little more selfish because he's been trying to play like a role player when the Spurs need a star. Stop trying to draw the double team and start trying to score before the double team develops. That forces the double to commit a lot harder and faster, which clears a lot more space for shooters so that kickouts will actually work.

I think alot of it is mental with LMA. He still seems to be struggling with his role here a bit. It's like he is either trying too hard or not trying hard enough and I can't tell which one most the time.

The offense definitely moved better last night, though don't undersell just how disengaged Houston was on the defensive end (for reasons I can't explain).

There is no reason LMA can't score like this against Pachula, McGee and Green. The big question is will he?
