Credit Carlisle's Mavs for coming out swinging with a lot of their players out. They probably deserved that win. Spurs made some plays late.

A win is a win. A win over the Mavs always makes it a little better

Pop telling it like it is. Could have said the same thing about the Aggie football team after the last 3 games. Wish he could speak to them before the LSU game.

Got the inlaws at the house, so I wasn't able to watch, but we just won another against Charlotte. Just quietly keep on rolling along.

It was a great game, very close throughout. Danny and Tony made some big plays down the stretch to close it out.

Bertans is starting to get it. Looked great against Boston.

He's a really smart player. He was even directing some of our vets on offense. Happy to see he isn't a stiff on defense too.

We're at the Wizards tonight. Chance to start the season 10-0 on the road with a win.

Simms was great tonight off of the bench. The starting unit still doesn't flow well on offense, but they looked a lot better in the second half. Also, it seemed like a home game tonight with all of the Spurs fans in DC. Quietly on a nine game winning streak. GSG.

His throw down in the 4th was incredible. Even the locals applauded that one.

The bench is playing better than the starters so far this season, and they've had even more roster churn. The record doesn't show it, but so far I'm not seeing improvement on offense or defense as the season progresses. If anything, teams are getting more confident about attacking the middle when gasol is on the court.

Gasol has been a huge disappointment so far. Aldridge has been a big let down this year, too. Honestly, I'd love to see Dedmon start in place of Pau to give the first unit more of a defensive identity. We need some lateral speed on that front line. Then Pau can move the ball with the second unit.

The bizzarro-Spurs continue to play pretty well on the road and stink at home.

The shots just didn't fall. 19 turnovers don't help, but a LOT of those were the product of them pressing too hard to try and make up for the missed shots. You can tell the guys were frustrated that the shots weren't going in, so they started driving to the basket recklessly and then trying to pass their way out of trouble.

The Magic are young, and Vogel has shown them how defense is mostly effort. They are fast and they close out better than most young teams do.

It was a bizarre game. There isn't much to learn from it. Just shrug it off and move on.

It was one of those games where you can tell early that the starters are going to look terrible all game. Similar to how they played Dallas a couple weeks ago. Shots didn't fall, but there was no movement so they weren't rhythm shots. Defensively disinterested.

I'd be thinking really hard about putting Dedmon or Lee in the starting lineup just because they are working a lot harder and more consistently on both ends. Gasol will have really good games but on his off nights he's a net negative. The starting offense has played below what it should be able to do for a couple years now, and the starting defense is looking pretty ramshackle. The backups don't have the pedigree but they work really hard on both ends and it shows.

Nothing like playing the hapless mavs to bounce back from and ugly to the magic. Still undefeated on the road.

Defense played a lot harder, starters and reserves, although the starters faded pretty badly on that end as the game went on. Backups didn't have the cleanest rotations but they had their heads on swivels and scrambled hard.

On offense, lots of driving hard to about the free throw line and then bailing on the play resulting in broken sets and bad attempts late in the shot clock. Aldridge has got to start working inside out like he did when he was at his best last year.

The Wizards aren't good. But any win is good in my book. This team seems to be treading water.

This current Spurs team will lose in the second round in 4 or 5 games.

Obviously there is a lot of season left and time to gel, but they are poor on both offense and defense. I'm not sold on Gasol yet and Aldridge needs to step up his game. He goes long stretches without doing anything at all to effect the game.
