Have you watched the Pacers this year? They imploded late in quite a few games. Vogel is not the coach he was a few years ago.

What about Mike Budenholzer? He was coach of the year last year and got the Hawks to the WCF against Cleveland.

Resident less than casual Rockets fans here. I'm not a basketball guy, but causally keep an eye on things when they get interesting. Needless to say, the Rockets are interesting right now,

Are you guys wanting to hire a proven HC or would a first timer be alright?

One name that came to mind was Mario Elie. Dude could inject some attitude into this team and I think could get through to Harden. He's also got some nice playing experience and knowing what it takes to win in the playoffs. Looks like he's only been an assistant in the NBA for about 8-9 years, but think he may be a good fit.

Again, I'm just checking in randomly so no hard feelings if you wanna berate me for a harebrained idea.

I think Elie could be a great choice. Good thought. He has three rings as a player and one as an assistant coach. But he has also coached on some bad teams after he left Dallas in 09.

Don't know how he would be on Xs and Os. But he definitely had the fire you would want as a player (and on floor leader) and he has some great history on his side. He knows what it takes to be a winner.

Being an Aggie and Rockets fan the last few years, I'm done with unproven coaches.

That team regressed because of a lack of talent, not a poor coaching job. They feature a crutch time 5 of
Paul George, George Hill, Monta Ellis, Ian Mahinmi, and Myles Turner. That team sucks. Its just as bad as the Rockets roster, but they still finished with a much better record in a tougher conference/division. They even took the #2 seed to a 7th game!

Two years ago he had a defensive nucleus that included David West, Roy Hibbert and Lance Stephenson. Two guys who look like crap right now, but were playing like allstars for the pacers. Those two players were replaced with Turner (rookie), Mahinmi (who actually turned in a career year) and Monta Ellis (COMPLETE defensive liability). That switch clearly hurt Vogel and his teams fell apart defensively. Here are the team defensive rankings(FG%) for the pacers for the last five years:

2015 - 5th
2014 - 3rd (WITHOUT PAUL GEORGE!!!!)
2013 - 1st
2012 - 1st
2011 - 6th

Oh wait, they were still really really really really good at defense despite the fact that they lost 3 all-star calibre players! You could argue that he is the BEST defensive coach in the NBA based upon his results over the last 5 years.

Now lets do the Rockets for fun:

2015 - 19th
2014 - 12th
2013 - 7th!!!!!!
2012 - 17th
2011 - 23rd


You may be right and he may not be the best late game coach, but that dude is still a really damn good defensive coach and that is EXACTLY what we need.

Kemp+Payton was pretty amazing to watch.

Like I always knew that he had the reputation of being a great dunker, but watching video on him puts him on par with Dominique Wilkins in my book.

I saw a Jason Williams (Sacramento edition) highlight video the other day. Dude traveled about three times per possession but damn.

The Sonics were nice back then. Kemp, Schrempf, and the glove were the real deal.

As an outsider, this blows my mind as well.

Morey should absolutely be on the hot seat. If next season goes anything like this season he should be shown the door. This offseason is the most important in his tenure here.
