I will never forget him catching fire in Game 6 vs. the Clippers. As long as it isn't against the Rockets, I wish him the best of luck!

The man was the catalyst in the greatest game/series comeback I've ever witnessed for one of my teams. I wish him nothing but the best unless we meet up with the Clippers again in the playoffs, in which case ****'em all.

He's going to start throwing alleys to Jordan like he did with Dwight.

The Spurs, Clippers, Warriors, Pelicans, Grizzlies, and TWolves are all better than us at the PF and C positions.

Your move, Morey.

I meant in terms of front court as a whole.

Smoove, on average, is barely above Terrence Jones. He has times when he's so damn dreadful. Obviously very exciting during the latter half of the playoffs but I was ready for him to go prior to that run.

I have a hard time believing that. The Rockets couldn't have offered him less than that. Its been reported several places that he wanted to stay and that Rockets had made an offer. Seems very strange.

1) I will always appreciate his effort in game 6 against the Clippers, but don't feel like he was pivotal to our success next season

2) I will never have to watch him shoot free throws again

He is incredible 15-25% of the time. The rest of the time he is a minus player, sometimes extremely minus. All that said, the Clippers have definitely upgraded this off-season. Their big problem was depth and they added Pierce, Smoove, and Lance Stephenson while only loosing Barnes and Hawes. Unfortunately, that is a good off season for LAC. Houston won't be noticeably different as long as DMo and TJo stay healthy. They won't have as big of ups, but they won't have as big of downs as Smoove, either.

That was the most Josh Smith move he could have possibly made.

A team he was comfortable with? check!
A well defined role? check!
First coach he has ever really enjoyed playing with? check!
Playing with your best friend? check!
Playing the best ball he had in years? check!

Did someone slightly underrate you? Time to show everybody you are still the man....

Keep chucking smoove!

It's fair to say Josh Smith wanted more playing time and the Clippers afforded him that more than the Rockets. Money also a slight issue.

What? Smith averaged 12/6/2.6 on .428/.330/.521 shooting. Two years ago he averaged 18/8/4 in Atlanta. From 06-13 he was better than last year every single year. It was the best ball he had played in a year.

I think Coach Pop got a chub thinking about DJ & Smoove being on the same team

I said either a few pages back or on the other thread I didn't want to spend money on Josh when we still have needs at guard. However if it was only the vet min that was required then I was in favor of keeping him. It sounds like he was worried about getting playing time competing with T Jones & DMO (aka white Hakeem). Doesn't seem like the kind of guy I want if he's not willing to share the role or compete for minutes against average to below average guys.

I'm also not sure we pushed very hard to keep him. He left for a min deal so it's not like we couldn't have matched or given more.

The fact that he's getting a min deal is pretty telling too IMO. He still has flashes, but he's just not the player he used to be. His defense isn't particularly notable anymore either. He makes some nice passes but also turns the ball over at a really high clip when trying to create as well.

Clutchfans guy is adamant that JSmoove wanted to come back. Sounds like we didn't want him.

This just sounds like a Morey big picture plan.

He shot .330 from 3 for the Rockets. The only time in his career when he shot better was in 10-11 and it was only .001 points.

Also had a .500 TS%, last time he broke .500 was 12-13.

He shot the ball uncharacteristically well while playing for the Rockets, and we all know how much Smooove loves chucking, so Im going to say yes...years.

When I first turned it on, I thought they were doing a "this sports moment in history" type commercial, but then I realized it was just an episode from 2006.

Chris Burke is the future second basemen for the Houston Astros and Gary Kubiak (the QB guru) will turn David Carr around!

My guess is Morey wanted Smith back at the 2.5 mill non-bird, but wasn't going to bend over backwards to convince him to stay. I still expect that the roster will look a little different between now and the trade deadline.

I'm glad we are in it. I knew we could make it work financially.
