I head out this morning to run some errands and come back to 50+ messages on the thread.

I like where this is headed.

Well done, CIA Pop!

Aldridge: Wizards moving on from David West, looking at Drew Gooden.

Drew Gooden, the perennial Concession of Free Agency Defeat.

We've really cornered the market on power forwards. Duncan, Aldridge, Diaw, and maybe West, with Kawhi easily capable of playing the small ball four.

Parker needs to sit his A$$ down and not play the Euro Games.

If he does not sit, there is only a couple of words that can describe it. Selfish or stupid, take your pick.

All your bigs are belong to us

We don't need Boozer. Get me West or some cheap hulking goon at C plus a big backup PG and this will have been a slam dunk offseason.

Is Ginobli coming back and do you guys want him back? It looks like a love/hate relationship from the outside.

When I mention that I want the Spurs to pick up a big backup PG, what I'm really looking for is a Ginobili. He's exactly what the Spurs need to play the backcourt with Patty Mills: a guy who can defend the 2 or backup 3 but run the offense so that that Patty Thrills can do his real job, which is to sprint around like mad until he gets an open three.

The problem is that Ginobili is old and broken. He can't stay healthy for long any more, and this Spurs team is not going to be as deep 1-3 as it has in previous years, which means the Spurs will need more minutes from the players they have. IMO, 2014 was his last hurrah, the miracle resurgence that should have let him ride off into the sunset at the top.

If he comes back for ~2mm to play 12-15 minutes per game I would be ecstatic; if the Spurs are counting on him to play 20 per game and pay him commensurately, I think it will be unlikely that we make it to the playoffs with a viable second unit primary ball handler.

We don't need him but who cares about need if we can get him why the hell not

Manu for the room exception or retirement are really the only options on the table at this point. Manu knows what his limitations are and so does Pop. The bulk of the minutes are still going to CoJo and Patty for the second team, but you keep Manu as long as you can if he wants to be here. He's still a very smart player that can shoot decently and create offense against second teams.

Current roster, per signed players and the news we have so far:

Parker/Mills
Green
Leonard
Aldridge/Diaw
Duncan

Anderson and Reggie Williams are still on the roster, although whether they will contribute is very much up in the air. Manu up in the air.

Gone: Beli, Baynes, Splitter, probably CoJo

They really need to add a guard

I think Manu plays one more with LMA on board.

COJO is still a restricted FA for the Spurs.

I'd imagine the coattail riders start showing up after their BBQs today.

Is Kirk Hinrich available? Is he just going to stay with Chicago? He'd be great to play in that second group, can play the 1 or 2, can shoot, and he's still an average defender.

Sorry if this is obvious, I just saw him listed in the free agent tracker and haven't been paying as close attention to the offseason as usual.

Hinrich exercised his player option. 2mm and change from the Bulls next year.

I forgot they had extended the QO to CoJo. It would be nice to get him back, I think he's going to be a really nice player for someone this year, I hope it's the Spurs.

Honestly, I hope CoJo plays for his 1year QO and is a FA next year. But I would imagine the Spurs want to lock him in to a reasonable rate this year.

Also, I think Kyle Anderson plays in SA this year as the back up 3. With Marco gone we need someone that's a little bigger and can guard another teams bigger 2nd team wings and rebound. Plus imagine the passing with Anderson, Diaw, Manu, Mills, and West out there (assuming we can get West).

Gotcha. I kinda figured he'd stay in Chicago, but I'm too lazy to look it up.

West is leaning Cavs.

Unfortunately, Anderson can't guard anybody at any position. Unless he has made a huge improvement to either his lateral quickness or strength, he's a nonfactor.

Damn, I can't believe this is real life.

I love it. Splitter was OK, but I am glad he's gone.

We really need parker to step up...get healthy, be in shape, and play hard.

Manu doesn't have much mileage yet, but its possible he could still save our asses in the right situation. I'd love that option from him.

Pop will use the regular season to experiment and rest. Probably still around a 55 win team because Pop won't GAF.

I feel like LaMarcus didn't ever really care about the Suns, but he wanted to do the most Spur thing he could possibly do by getting the Suns hopes up then ripping out their hearts.

Bad move. If Pop GAF, maybe they don't get the 6th and bounced in the 1st round this past season.

I feel like next years team will have more of a sense of urgency during the reg season than usual. They saw what happened last year when they coasted until the last month and ended up with a 7 seed, which could have been the difference in a championship.

Eh, I think that's overblown. Heath was the #1 factor and Parker wasn't healthy. It's a fine line and sure you want HCA if at all possible, but having everybody healthy for and playing peak basketball heading into mid April is the key for the Spurs.
