Career:
25975 points, 14th.
973 more points and he is 10th all time
Comes out to just under 12 ppg if he plays 82 games. A healthy season and deep playoff run should get him into 10th.

Playoff points are separate. But very easily doable.

Why do so many people hate on D.Green? He's a beast and plays team bball. Yeah he has issues but so does almost every other player ever.

the guys flocking to the team for minimal pay reminds me of the failed attempt by Karl Malone and Gary Payton when they went to the Lakers.

That didn't work then.

Well, that team DID make the Finals, though....

I think a lot of Spurs fans are just not really ready to accept that salaries have ballooned so much. I don't see this kind of perception much on Texags, or on r/nba or the comments on PTR or 48MoH, but especially on Spurstalk. 2 years ago when Tiago re-signed, everyone on ST was freaking out saying he wasn't worth $7.5m a year. And now, Aron Baynes almost makes that. They see Green as not the Big 3 or David Robinson and automatically think he's overpaid and expendable, never mind the reality that a starting C is worth easily $7.5m a year, and a starting 2 is easily worth $10m/year, especially when he's a top 5 3 and D guy. If you look around enough, you'll see those kind of comments. They're right there with the same idiots who for years have been playing ESPN Trade Machine GM and try to rationalize why Team A should trade their franchise centerpiece to the Spurs for Bonner, Keith Bogans, an old Coyote costume, a protected 2nd round pick, and the rights to Robertas Javtokas.

if boozer wants to come and we can make it happen and still get a PG/SG we should do it I mean why the hell not

One reason I could think of is that Pop might want to develop some young players for 3 years down the line.
Boozer, Diaw, West, and Duncan could be gone in 2-3 years, so Boozer's spot could go to some guy that the Spurs need in 2-3 years.

Now there are several counters to that including the ability the Spurs have shown to get vets, there might not be young talent available right now the team feels is worth it, the D-League option, and the fact that TD really might still be around in 2018.

I'd love for the Spurs to somehow trade for Ty Lawson now that he's become expendable in DEN, but I don't see that happening

Jimmer Fredette is available, hits 90% of his FT and can hit a deep 3...

Looking forward to seeing Draymond play D against Tim, LMA, Diaw, and West.

Quiet day on the Spurs front. Only thing I've seen is this rumor snippet posted on SI

quote:
The Mavs are targeting another big man for their free-agent haul. According to Michael Scotto of Sheridan Hoops, Dallas has reached out to ex-Wizard Kevin Seraphin, who has also received interest from the Lakers, Wizards, Spurs and Suns.

NBA has released that the salary cap is $70M. About $3M higher then the projected number. Certainly led to it being a lot easier to keep Mills in the fold.

Leonard's 5 year max contract will start at $16.4M this season.
LMA's 4 year max contract will start at $19.6M this season.

Difference is due to years of service in the league.

I wasn't able to watch tonight, but evidently Treveon Graham (SG/SF 6'6 with 6'10.5 wingspan) had another nice game. Based on what I saw out of him Monday, 38% three point shooting as a senior at VCU, and his defense and hustle, he may be earning an invite to camp. I'd really like the Spurs to find another big guard to fill one of those 14/15 spots and spending most of his time in Austin with trips to SA when someone else needs a night off.

Jean-Charles is confirmed going back to Europe this year. Hopefully he can figure out a way to contribute on offense, but he looks ferocious on defense.

Lalanne may make the squad as an I-35 special. He's got the makings of a midrange shot and his defense is good.

How has Anderson looked, for anyone who has watched the summer league games? I know, slow. But does he look like he could even chip in 10 minutes here or there?

You'd think we'd have plenty of blowouts to get him some reps in.
Ulrich

In the first game Anderson looked terrible. I didn't watch the second game, but apparently he played much better, scoring efficiently and deflecting a number of passes.

My extremely low opinion of him is really based on last year. I wanted to like him; he looks huge on the court, he's got court vision and BBIQ, and he can put up stats in the D-League.

Unfortunately, he's too slow and weak to do anything in the NBA. He was galactically terrible on defense even against third strings and he's too slow to get past anyone (at any position) and too weak to earn low post position. Basically, when he can play against D-Leaguers who don't have good team defenses, he can kind of mash his way into the lane using his long arms to keep the dribble away from the defense, but try that against an NBA defense (non garbage time) and the help defense is going to take it away from him almost every time. Everyone wants to say "yeah, but he could be like Diaw"... well, even the fat version of Diaw is quicker and much stronger.

For Anderson to be a contributor to an NBA team, he's going to have to either get much quicker laterally so that he can play SF/small ball PF, or much stronger so that he can play power forward. Until I see proof of that he has managed one or the other, I'm going to be down on him no matter what he does in summer league/D League.

Marc Stein tweeting that the Spurs traded a future 2nd to Sacto for Ray McCallum. So there's your 3rd pg.
