You list Rivers and Big Baby but call the Portland guys scrubs? And Stephenson was a scrub last year too. Pierce is ancient. They have no one to guard KD, Kawhi, etc. At least Portland added Aminu. McCollum was good in the playoffs last year too. Has any move Doc has made worked out yet?

Also supposedly DeAndre doesn't get along with CP3, so that could be reason to leave as well.

Pierce is still good. Stephenson is a scrub in no universe. He's a head case and not a number 1 or 2 option, but in LAC he doesn't have to be. He will be a bench player most likely that gives them one of the highest ceiling benches in the league with him and Crawford.

Agree to disagree I guess. When I look at LAC's roster, I see two aging players in Pierce and Crawford, no SF to guard KD and Kawhi, no backup C, no backup PG, a prayer that Stephenson works out, and maybe a PG that DeAndre doesn't get along with in Paul. Portland isn't ideal either, but they have better depth.

Both are better than Dallas right now though.

Portland assistant coach has publicly said that LaMarcus will definitely not be back. So any worry about he 5th year isn't necessary.

I was worried about him staying more than any other team destination he is considering.

Yeah I have seen no indication of a second round of meetings.

I would be surprised of LA didn't announce by tomorrow. Could come as early as today though. His meeting with the Raptors has already taken place. Not sure when his meeting with NY is.

Hard to ignore the assistant coach at Portland but still, who knows what's going through his head. I know he hasn't been leaking all this information to all these different outlets. It's just not LMA's style. All speculation and rumors.

The Phoenix thing appears to have gained some traction within some credible media sources but I would still be very surprised if he went that route.

Anyway, I would expect a decision fairly soon. Don't see him dragging this out another week. or anything like that. These teams have other obligations they need to take care of in order to put a contender around wherever he decides to sign. Making teams wait does no good for him or anyone else.

I would think the Hawks plan on trading splitter ultimately. Don't see the Spurs taking him back.

Agreed, but if we don't get him, we'll have an alarming lack of depth at center.

$20M for Baynes is a lot. It was clear he was gone when the Spurs didn't extend a QO to him.

I like Baynes, but 6mm a year would have been too much. With a (fingers crossed) post rotation of Duncan/Aldridge/Diaw and a trend towards small ball with Kawhi potentially taking some minutes at the four there won't be all that many minutes to soak up. Baynes would not have provided 6mm worth of value, so good for him getting minutes+money and good for the Spurs saving some coin. It does hurt a little in that he was our only really strong guy, but hopefully we can land someone for about 3mm who can provide a little enforcement.

But the Spurs can pay the exact same money as the sons. So he's basically choosing which set up he thinks is better
